IncGamers has word on the launch of signups for World of Warcraft
players interested in beta testing the Wrath of the Lich King expansion
for Blizzard's MMORPG, saying this is as simple as opting in to the beta test
via your account page on the website, though apparently at the moment the
European Account Page has the
opt-in link, but it has not yet appeared on the
US Account Page.
Update: US Signups are underway as well.

Still Wondering... |

"a 10 million user beta test?"
"The BC expansion didn't sell as well as that."
"Are you high? It sold 3.5 million copies in the first month..."
So you're saying my original statement is wrong?
I simply said it hasn't sold as well as the original. And it hasn't. I never sad it hadn't sold a shitload of copies... because it did. I was there at midnight elbow to elbow with hundreds of other geeks. And we all soon realized the dropped loot in Outland was better than a lot of raid loot in the original.
And no, I'm not/wasn't high. Wish I was....
edit: I'm still wondering what the latest figures are on the twelve (or whatever) million subscribers... how many actually have the add-on. Even half is an extension on their license to print money which WotLK will continue to extend for years or until the next add-on.

The BC expansion didn't sell as well as that. I don't think they have even released the info on it. I know they have been bundling it with the original for quiet some time. Either way, yeah, your odds of getting in are about the same as being struck by lightening or winning the Lotto.

I did pay via CC, but I'm pretty sure it's just the fact that you weren't a BC customer.

indiv: Probably so. I never installed BC. I guess I could install it, but I would waste that free trial! Yeah, I'm cheap. I do keep the game updated in case I ever want to play again but these days I barely play games (0-2 hours a week). |

Been over 15 months since I last played/paid via credit card (so yeah, if you were using a credit card for Burning Crusade your eligible, so it seems).
I hadn't played for over a year before BC hit shelves. I played it another two months after release of BC. Then quit and rejoined for another month early last year...
Still waiting to get my WAR beta invite. I was hoping they would throw me a bone since I also beta tested their previous games.

I'm going to guess that you didn't have Burning Crusade, Ant, so you're not eligible.

Fibrocyte (and any others) with canceled accounts: Did you use credit cards or prepaid cards? I never used credit card for my WoW subscripton. Also, how long ago did you stop paying? |

osage: Are you sure? Mine said "This account is not eligible to enter the Wrath of the Lich King Beta." I haven't played and subscribed (prepaid game cards) since 2/2006. Hmm, that's weird. I let my subscription run out this spring but it said I've successfully opted in. I guess there's some "recently enough" time limit, then.
Still, considering the millions of people hitting that button my chance of getting in isn't a whole lot higher than yours. Think we need to go down to the tenth decimal to see any difference
EDIT: I always used a credit card to pay. This message was edited at Jul 3, 16:45. |

For anyone interested, you'll be able to opt-in even if your subscription isn't active.
