Steam
News announced the availability of a new "Palermo Update" for Day of Defeat:
Source, adding 51 Steam achievements to the World War II shooter along with
other Steam Community features and a
new map, all outlined on this
page. This all paves the way for a free Day of Defeat weekend that kicks off
tomorrow. Here's the announcement: Leveraging the recently released set
of free services available in Steamworks, the Palermo Update adds 51
achievements to Day of Defeat: Source, player avatar displays in the scoreboard
and win panel, and detailed player statistics that are integrated with the Steam
Community features (www.steamcommunity.com).
In addition, this update adds support for popular features introduced in Valve's
Team Fortress 2 (TF2), the PC title named multiplayer game of the year by
Gamespy.com and PC Gamer. These include "nemesis/revenge" freeze cam and new
effects driven by the particle system introduced to the Source engine for TF2.
Finally, this update also introduces a new map, Palermo, which is a remix of the
most popular community map, dod_salerno, originally created by Magnar "insta"
Jennsen.

Day of Defeat: Source Palermo

I was wondering the same thing myself, I used to play regularly until TF2. Might have to check it out again.

Haven't had a chance to fire up the official patch, was playing the beta since it came out.....did they fix the horrid latency? Seems the original code didn't take nicely to the TF2 achievement logging. Even on the best of servers there was latency....to the tune of, running along going into the fight - no one in sight, next screen, DEAD looking up at the sky with a death message. Killed some servers I played on the last few weeks.
Also, not sure how many people play regularly, but it seems some purists are pretty pissed off about this change....personally, I have been playing more DoD 1.3 than Source.
You got a great body, but your record collection sucks.... BN 360 Scoreboard: http://www.mygamercard.net/clboard.php?id=GW57kfq7 |
