Team Fortress 2 Patched

Steam News announces the availability of a new version of Team Fortress 2 that includes some fairly significant balance adjustments for Valve's teamplay shooter:

Updates to Team Fortress 2 have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

Team Fortress 2

        • Fixed backburner's flame critical hits not being recalculated after collision. This meant that it would check if the target was looking away once and after that the flame could score a critical hit again even if the orientation changed

        • Added back some damage falloff to the Pyro's flamethrower. Not nearly as extreme as it was before the Pyro class pack

        • Fixed bug that caused Demomen to take a small amount of extra damage from their own grenades and fly farther using them

•Fixed spy getting stuck in players after removing his disguise

        • Fixed spy stabbing and being able to go invisible instantly

        • Fixed spy disguised as enemy medic being able to spam voice commands

        • Fixed buffed health not decaying properly after being healed by a dispenser

        • Selectable menus can now be operated with number keys even if they are not bound to slot1, slot2, etc.

        • Removed the remaining speed adjustments for carrying intelligence (a couple of game modes still reduced your maxspeed)

        • Fixed a buildable item placement bug where the object would not rotate after the user tried to place in an invalid location

awww shame. Ive lurved pyros since they were crap in TFC

Last night I had my Best Evar Round(tm) where I killed almost an entire team at point A in Granary (10 players). That was on GTFO public server too.

Backburner is a fantastic piece of kit although ive dropped the flare gun and gone back to the shotgun as I think the shotgun is far more useful.

Thank heavens they did something. All those friggin' achievement server grinders with their backburners almost wrecked the game.

Took long enough. That was a problem back in the beta. Probably resulting from "pixel perfect" collision when the spy changed from the model of whatever he was disguised as to his normal one.
I don't think TF2 uses per-poly collision models though.

Jesus fucking christ it's about time. I was beginning to think they didn't even care about this.

2. Spy issues Jul 1, 2008, 21:14 Shooman

Oh I wish they would fix the 'lagstab' issues with the Spy. False Positive issue. Whatever you wanna call it. I backstabbed a Heavy 3 bloody times last night, everytime making the 'backstab' sound....he see's me, turns around, and blast me away. Turns out he lost no health from my 3 backstabs...
And that's not even touching on the lagstab issue of backstabbing someone only to have them suddenly appear 2 feet in front of you...thus giving away your disguise.

*claps*

I still think the +50hp on the backburner should be reduced to +25, but that's just my opinion. My most played class is still Soldier, so I love to see Pyros with the backburner (no knockback blast). I'm also glad to see some damage falloff now too.
