xbox originals, the size of saved games, plus content, my poor little 20 gig drive is gonna be stuffed soon. Unless it is a full size game, I just delete it. Can easily quickly download it.
I downloaded my first movie off of LIVE. In HD, so it was 4GB. Looked great. Watched it, deleted it. I don't download anyting other than a few arcade games (zero space), and I don't save music, movies, etc.
And an apples to apples comparison of the 40/60/80gb PS3 prices, will show you that the 120gb HD for the 360 is actually a steal. hehehehhee

Actually I found the Xbox Originals nice, as I had Crimson Skies for the Xbox, and downloaded it for the 360. Granted if they keep pushing out more arcade games, xbox originals, the size of saved games, plus content, my poor little 20 gig drive is gonna be stuffed soon.
But I will say that Sony did a great job with how their hard drives are setup, and how easy (and cheap) it is to upgrade them. If I had to change anything (hardware wise) with the 360 I'd love to have a setup simular to the PS3's hard drive. I'd love to get a 120 gig drive for it, but for the price it's not worth it yet.

So why are there games that can't be played on the PS2 from the PSOne? Gran Turismo for example. The claim by Sony was their entire catalog from the PSOne would work fine.
But then again backwords compatibility is a double edged sword. Granted you can play the previous generation's games, but at the same time your adding more crap to the hardware to do it.
Granted (once I actually found a list and not Sony's search for a game section), the vast majority of the PS2 titles that are compatible are crap. http://www.ps3comp.com/view.asp?flt=a&console=ps2
I mean why the hell would you support Barbies Horse Adventures, instead of just making it compatible with the top selling games of the previous generation?

I am sitll waiting for you guys to produce links to each item NEW not refurb.
Also, (from a thread left dead) JM was surprised about the HD price for the 360 - heh, compare that to the $ of the diff version of PS3 (once someone provides links).
It really comes down to this: Are you willing to buy a first version Blu Ray. I am not. I didn't buy the first few years of BETA. I didn't buy a VCR when they were 700-1500, and I sure as hell am not going to buy a blu ray when the catalog of movies is dismal at best.
There is nothing wrong with the quality of DVDs upscaled to my 40 inch LCD tv. Some will disagree, which is fine. I prefer to spend my money on trips, projects, and more games.
The $ isn't worth it for me. In 2 years, they will be a lot cheaper, more movies, etc. Hell, the DVDs didn't even tap out their expectations...where are all of the multiple angle movies? (other than pron?)
You always compare the elite 360 price to the 40gb price. I don't see a reason to buy an elite - the same as I don't see a reason to buy an 80gb PS3. It will be obsolete in 2 years.
Show me the prices and where to buy them, then we can do an apples to apples. If all you have is "well, it is a Blu Ray player" then your argument falls short for me. If all I did was console game - then MAYBE a PS3 would make sense....but I don't - so it doesn't. I have a minimal investment in the 360, and it was a great purchase.

Is the 80GB PS3 even available right now? If you can find it...yes. Otherwise, they stopped producing new units with that config in prep for the new bundle in June.

Is the 80GB PS3 even available right now? All I saw on amazon.com was some outrageous prices for a PlayStation 3 80GB Motorstorm Pack. The 360 Elite was there for $425. Even sonystyle.com doesn't have it until June.

The 80g is not retardedly expensive. You get a Blu-Ray player, double the hard drive space, 2 more USB slots, PS2 software emulation and a game for $100 more than the 40g version, or $50 more than the Elite 360. is that a joke?

Eh, it's not about that for me. We all have our preferences, and we have our reasons for buying one console over the other.
We've all stated our reasons why in the past, there is little reason to continue to do so in each thread about it. Which is why I was responding to a question, stating facts, and nothing else. Obviously didn't help.
I refrain from using words "fanboi" or "fannie" in a derogatory manner because we wouldn't be here if we weren't "fans" in the first place. Using words like that to insult someone when discussing opposing sides seems rather ridiculous to me. Generally those using the terms are the bigger "fanbois".

Why would you exclude the 40g version? It's not like Sony tried to pull a fast one. It was always very clear that it did not have PS2 support. Customers had a choice.
Now you are getting into hardware differences, SKUs, etc, etc. The 360 is no better in that regard. Hello, no hard drive on what's SUPPOSED to be the "Arcade" SKU for Live. Great move Microsoft, really smart!
The 80g is not retardedly expensive. You get a Blu-Ray player, double the hard drive space, 2 more USB slots, PS2 software emulation and a game for $100 more than the 40g version, or $50 more than the Elite 360.
And you call me a "fannie"? I'm not the one redirecting the discussion of if/when Microsoft will drop support for the 360 and bring out a new system. The discussion had nothing to do with backwards compatibility or SKU options until you brought it up. I said right off that I wasn't looking for a 360 vs PS3 discussion and only responded to someone's direct question. So who is the "fannie" here?

Seeing as most gamers upgrade their PCs every 3 years, give or take, what's the big deal about new consoles coming out about the same time? Thanks for showing us you've missed the point entirely.
Not to mention the painfully obvious answers to that question.

I don't understand why people are so concerned over backward compatibility? Isn't it just easier to buy a PS2 or buy an original Xbox and play the old games on that if you so want to play them? I am sure you can find a cheap original Xbox for sale or a PS2. It would probably be cheaper to get a 40 gig PS3 + a PS2 than buy an 80gig.

Actually, 60g AND 80g versions have PS2 backwards compatibility. The new hardware system bundle (MSG4) in June will also have PS2 support from my understanding.
If you look at the list of PS3 support for PS2 games vs 360 support for Xbox games...the PS3 list is much, much longer.

Well that was just posted yesterday, which is why I haven't seen it.
7 years. So does that mean a new system will be out in 5 and they will support it for 2 yrs after? Does it mean they will drop the 360 before the new system comes out again?
that did not stop people from buying whatever Microsoft put out. Or they might have sold more...or maybe those people have learned their lesson after the shitty hardware for the 360?
I can't speak for the sheep that buy things from a company with a horrible track record for support.

Well Microsoft said 7 years not 10. Here is the link to it.
http://kotaku.com/5008948/shane-kim-says-xbox-360-will-last-7-years
It doesn't really matter what they say only time will tell how long the 360 lasts. As far as support goes I understand what you are saying but whatever Microsoft did for support in the past, or whatever they do as a business organization that did not stop people from buying whatever Microsoft put out.
