Bond is Back - Quantum of Solace Revealed

Bond Called to Duty on IGN offers more of the outcome of Activision's financial conference call, where Quantum of Solace was unveiled, a game based on the upcoming James Bond movie of the same name. The game will use the engine from Call of Duty 4 and a number of developers are involved (Treyarch, Vicarious Visions, Beenox, and Eurocom), as the game will apparently appear for Windows and a number of consoles and handhelds, though only PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are specifically mentioned. What was sais in the conference call is:

In addition to the strong DreamWorks slate, we look forward to launching Bond: Quantum of Solace in Q3, concurrent with the movie. This game uses the Call of Duty 4 engine and technology to bring Bond games to a new level.

It most certainly was, you played through scenes right out of the movie.
That doesn't qualify as movie tie-in because it didn't coincide with the release of the movie. A game based on a movie and a movie tie-in are two different things.

Yes it did - one on keyboard and one on gamepad. NP.

It wasn't network coop but it was definatly coop.
You're right. I was thinking of the demo version which has neither.

Unfortunately the PC version of that game didn't have co-op.

Back on topic I kind of liked the Return Of The King tie in too - only because of the coop

The only Alien game on the Amiga was Alien 3 (which also appeared on SNES and Genesis). The one you're probably thinking of is either Activision's Aliens on C64 etc or Electric Dreams' Aliens (also 8-bit). Both came out in 1987, although I consider the latter to be superior (it was an early forefather of the first-person shooter).
Thanks couldn't quite remember wether it was Amstrad or Amiga - guess Amstrad (we didn't have a C64).

Btw if you want an earlier forerunner of the fps try Phantom Slayer on the Dragon 32 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantom_Slayer - used to scare the pants off of me (I was only 8).

The Aliens game back on the amiga was good (I think that was 20 years ago).

Ones? I am only aware of Nightfire, and althought the multiplayer is not too bad, it was still a typical Gearbox clusterfuck with maddening bugs and omissions.
There were a few back in the DOS days, but I didn't play any of them. I was under the mistaken impression that there was a Windows one before Nightfire.

Goldeneye wasn't a movie tie-in.

Goldeneye (film) 17 November 1995 (USA)

Goldeneye (game) 25 August 1997 (USA)

007 : Nightfire was also a good game .. based off the bond movies , but with an original story.
It was okay, but the AI was terrible and the weapons didn't feel right. No One Lives Forever was superior in both of those areas (and the story was better too, IMO). I'm still waiting for a definitive Bond game. I haven't checked out any of the console ones after Goldeneye, but the PC ones left something to be desired.

AVP was based on the Aliens movies .. not the AVP movies.
Actually it was based on the Dark Horse comics from the 90s...

AVP was based on the Aliens movies .. not the AVP movies.

I never played Aliens on the Amiga , but the Aliens arcade game (based off Aliens 2) was quite good .. I wasted a lot of coins on that one.

AVP was original they both came out before the films (although after the books which were a shit load better then the films).

I'd go with Riddick but goldeneye left me cold (never liked FPS on a console).

The Aliens game back on the amiga was good (I think that was 20 years ago).

    Riddick?
Ew, excellent call, forgot about that one..

And yeah, like E says, either Spiderman or Spiderman2 where you roamed the city in a GTA fashon...that one got good reviews...

I thought Spiderman The Movie was decent, but I'm sure others viewed it as a crappy port. It had pretty good reviews, too (for a movie tie-in at least).

Maybe it was just the presence of Bruce Campbell that did it for me.
