GamesIndustry.biz quotes EA Mythic designer Josh Drescher says that
Warhammer Online is being designed with longevity in mind, saying they have
about five years worth of content: "All the under-the-hood numbers all
actually scale through the next five years," he said.
"What you don't want is when you launch the game you've got 40 levels - and it
takes however long it takes to get to level 40. You then launch an expansion and
it now takes two weeks to get to level 40 because now we need everyone to spend
six months to get from level 40 to 50," Drescher added.

Some of you folks need better reading comprehension. At no point does Josh say they have 5 years worth of content finished. He says that they have numbers that scale through five years and "We have actually five years' worth of numerology out in front of us in terms of all that,". That does not mean five years worth of solid content.
I think Mythic is doing what most MMOs do, and that is to have a semi-solid plan of where the game is supposed to be in five years. I guarantee Blizzard had almost five years mapped out.
Now this doesn't mean they will meet those goals but they have a plan.

Not 5 years of PLAYTIME 5 years of PAY. It's EA...
They'll add content when paying players go down.

I'm pretty sure they mean they already have plans to add content for the next for 5 years?

I'd be willing to bet that World of Warcraft had 3-4 years of content planned. I remember shortly after the game was released, someone made a movie after discovering all the unaccessible continents and instances (for example, they had video of Blackwing Lair, 6 months before it was actually in-game). This was 3 years ago mind you, and some of that content is STILL not available in the real game!

With only 40 levels the end game PvP best be absolutely SPECTACULAR. Unfortunately right now they won't let us see half of it, and the half we do have in beta, is an unbalanced, slow, instanced, bore-fest.
Though yea, they could count as having 5 years of content out of the box. That is, if you count the end game PvP as 4.8 years of it. :p
