CoD4 Singleplayer is too much of a propaganda affair, and not really that much fun...Better than Crysis though.
Why didn't they include the last lvl from Doom 2. It was "INSANELY" hard (without cheats) on the easiest difficulty let alone on "nightmare".

By far the hardest mission in CoD4 is the Epilogue mission on Veteran. I have yet to beat it.
Me too. The timer to make it to the upper floor is awfully short, and the couple times I finally made it up the stairs, I died as soon as I walked into the upper room since I was so low on health.

I completed the sniper mission, on veteran, dying maybe once or twice.
I kept getting overrun by grenades until I came up with a two-part strategy to complete the mission part of which involves hiding and letting your injured teammate do a lot of the work.
I found the fucking nighttime farm hillside/farm assault levels where you're clearing houses to be the most ridiculously hard.
I didn't find that mission to be as difficult as some of the other parts since I always carried a sniper rifle through the game. I picked off most of the difficult enemies from a distance from higher ground like upper house floors, the church tower, and rooftops. Then I would rush the houses during the lull before the next respawn wave using the shotgun. You can kill a lot of the enemies in the houses as they come to the doors and windows by standanding right outside them with a shotgun. Your squadmates also do a good job of flushing them out and drawing fire when you stand outside like that.

Honestly I had no problems with the COD4 mission
You didn't play it on the highest difficulty mode ("Veteran") then. It look me quite a while to figure out a strategy to beat that level playing on "Veteran." However, that's not the level I found to be the hardest one in the game. Both the Epilogue level (hostage on airplane) and the nuclear bunker level are harder than the Chernobyl sniper extraction level on Veteran difficuly due to their short timers and the fact that you can't hide out from the action until help arrives.
COD4 wouldn't be so difficult and frustrating if the developers had put an on-demand save game feature in the game instead of that checkpoint-only save crap which doesn't even work consistently. I had to repeat that damn nuclear bunker level dozens and dozens of times because the first two times I was finally lucky enough to make it to the blast door without dying, the game didn't save my progress.

No Ghosts & Goblins? It's the hardest game ever. In fact, the developers didn't code anything past level 3 because they knew no one would ever make it that far. so true.
i also remember that punch out game on my snes. i remember throwing the controller at the tv many times.
but COD4? come on that game was a walk in the predictable park.
also, WHY IS MINESWEEPER NOT THERE.

Honestly I had no problems with the COD4 mission. The only one I had issues with is the training mission, and beating the timer.
And I agree there are a few other games I would have put on that list.
