Frontlines Patch & Dedicated Server Near [March 24, 2008, 08:46 am ET] - Viewing Comments
The
Kaos Studios Community Forum offers a status report on the upcoming version
patch to update Frontlines: Fuel of War to version 1.02 (thanks Gamer's Hell). Kaos says
the patch for the military shooter is about a week off, and they are already at
work on a version 1.03 patch to follow that will add further server browser
improvements. They also announce the much-demanded dedicated server will be
released along with version 1.02: "With 1.02, we are also releasing a dedicated
server build and a frontend to host your own servers without CD keys."

I played this game and thought it was simplistic and very "GI Joe" 5 marines killing 300,000 enemies. I cannot stand that, and while I do not want Rainbow Six reality, Battlefield seems to blend it just right.
However, I was NOT able to try the MULTIPLAYER. Has anyone tried multiplayer? Is that the crowning jewel for this game?
None of the reviews seem to really talk about MP for this game which I think would be really cool.
Thanks

I know what ya mean, tried the demo, and while it's not bad.. it's just not what I'm craving right now. Especially with GTA4 and Age of Conan coming up.

Thanks Tumbler.
Not to get off topic but for the life of me I cant get into sins. I know EVERYONE is playing it right now, but I have never really enjoyed the RTS genre maybe that's why. The game is just slow & complex, imo.

The last thing I'm looking for is another COD4 clone. I want something with a little more realism & less arcade. It's definitely not a COD4 clone. To be honest it feels like BF1942 in a lot of ways. It's not as good as BF2, but it's decent, it's just behind the times.
It deserves a 7/10 in my book. It's not bad, just not really that good...
And with Sins of a Solar Empire they need a home run to tear me off that game! Which is absolutely nothing like this game btw.

What happened to the demo? I have been holding off buying it until I can play a demo. The last thing I'm looking for is another COD4 clone. I want something with a little more realism & less arcade.

Insert standard "Is this the patch that makes the game playable" smug remark here.

The aggregate review sites for this game tell me if it's worth my time or not. And they tell me it's clearly not.

For the sake of this game's future I hope it's not too late for this patch, I haven't been able to even play it on my Vista machine since day 1. I installed it on a different machine that has XP and I absolutely loved it! Mostly for it's Single Player which I never thought would be so good.
