There are a quadrillion things shooters could do to create a whole new game experience

Really? Name me some.

Edit : Er..., Half Life 2 ?!?

You already know that HL2 is going to be the Best Game Evar, huh? There's fanboys, and then there's FanBoys.

This game does have potential to become very good. I have a good feeling about this one. Might even be better than Half-Life 2, you never know.

"Ok, name one. If you have that many original ideas, write up proposals, I'm sure you'll wind up employed making them.

Or you could keep on whining that someone else isn't out there making the increadibly imaginitve games you just KNOW have to be possible somewhere."

It's not that game developers lack innovation, it's game publishers that lack the desire to innovate as it means financial risk. Sad but true. I even heard that the Sims was going to be turned down by EA as the marketting focus groups said nobody would be interested in playing it. Not sure how true that is, but I wouldn't be surprised.

well the first 20 seconds or so i thought it was doom3, even the music sounded the same as one of the videos showing the mars flyby.

and then it turned into halo 1 & 1/2.

At least they are honest about what their game is and is not - they do say in the trailer that it is the next "evolution" in FPS gaming, and not the next "revolution"

Well you have to notice they hired a company to produce their trailer that makes movie trailers...

And everybody knows how shitty most movie trailers are.

From the trailer:

"the fate of all, rests in one..."

wow...that's new.

Gameplay innovation. There are a quadrillion things shooters could do to create a whole new game experience, but nobody has the balls to do anything.

    Looks like crap...

    /me demands innovation.
I wouldn't say it looks like crap.. graphics look pretty nice. Or are you talking about the gameplay? If so, then I can't judge that from just watching the vid.

What kind of innovation do you want?

Far Cry + Doom III + Unreal 2 = Pariah. Fun may vary.

Long ago someone once observed that they are finally running out of names for rock bands. So it was only a matter of time before the gaming industry reached that point. In some defense of Purge I will say that the Quake mod that it originated from (Future vs. Fantasy) was actually quite alot of fun. Purge itself I have never played however. I've never heard of Rebel Without a Pulse but the name sounds pretty funny actually and I really know nothing about Alpha Black Zero.
Pariah looks good but I guess we will see if it's any fun or another pretty shooter, although pretty shooters can be fun too.
And while I agree with Professional to a degree I have to wonder about those people who refuse to play anything other than totally original games, what do you guys do with all that spare time?

Another unfortunately named title to join the ranks of Purge, Rebel Without A Pulse, Alpha Black Zero (Intrepid Protocol!)

The only entertainment I get out of games lately are the goofy or sometimes puzzling names.

Kinda reminds me of Doom 3 - except with large outdoor areas and brightly lit corridors inside
