Tempting as hell, but worth waiting on both reviews and a $150 price drop.

$350 for an IPS is well worth it. That Dell does have some tint issues, but for gaming it isn't that noticeable. Probably. It really depends on you and on how badly affected it is.

I'd still take the IPS.
Viewsonic's are cheaper but for a reason. They're decent enough, these days most LCDs use the same panels, anyway, but you're getting a no frills experience.

Can't say the same about IPS.

As for why everything is 16x9, just because it's easier for factories to kick that out. The TV market far exceeds the monitor market, so it's easy for them to just produce the same panel line for both. We get fewer 16x10 options, unfortunately, but we get plummeting prices.

That kind of thing is fine for plain jane gaming(I have a similar little BenQ in my den at home) but some people need color accuracy and better viewing angles for video/art work. In that case the only real option is IPS panels and Dell/NEC have the best offerings. Basically they are priced that way for a reason. If you're just gaming at home then any old monitor will do really. Most of Samsung's monitors use panels that are TN or S-PVA. With Dell you aren't really paying for the name, you're paying for the panel premium and free shipping. Dell also puts them on sale very frequently. Don't get me wrong, I don't love Dell products or something but they do make solid monitors at reasonable prices for what you get.

The OP specifically wanted a 1920x1200 monitor 16:10 monitor anyway but unfortunately those are becoming more difficult to obtain.

Dell is overpriced....

I have this one and never been happier:
http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VH236H-Inch-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B002453K5G

Do some research on Dell's panels and then buy the brand name that uses them....they purchase them from major panel makers.

Also, if you are going to spend that kind of scrilla - get Samsung or something of similar high quality at that price point. Honestly you are just paying for it to come from Dell.

I upgraded my monitor a couple months ago from the Gateway FHD2400 to the Dell U2410, and I could not be happier. I was having a lot of trouble with the Gateway's viewing angle, on the vertical axis in particular. I couldn't quite position the monitor such that the image didn't start disappearing at the edges. Also, the glossy display caused a lot of glare where I have my computer set up.

The Dell U2410 solved both of these for me, as it has a matte display and it seems to have much wider viewing angles than the Gateway. If you have the money to spend on the Dell, I would recommend it.

350 bucks for that first Dell and 600 for the second one? Are you buying them covered in gold?

I've gone with viewsonic for years now, and they haven't disappointed me. I had one that got two stuck pixels pretty shortly after I bought it (never bothered to try to fix them, since they were in an unobtrusive location), but the others have been fine.

Check out Newegg's selection of Viewsonics

They all pretty much have 4 stars, and quite a few have 5 stars.

Ok, so I have Googled the hell out of looking for the best gaming monitor. Seems most of the monitors I find are no longer in production or are not for sale anymore. What happened to 1920 x 1200 16:10 monitors?!? Seems the computer world is trying to turn into the TV one and making us use TV monitors with this 1080p stuff.
I really want a 1920 x 1200 monitor decent for gaming. 16:10 is a plus. I think I found what I want but I am looking for a second opinion and any other suggestion.

The two I am stuck between is the Dell SP2309W http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/dell-sp2309w/4505-3174_7-33456038.html

And this Dell U2410 http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/dell-ultrasharp-u2410/4505-3174_7-33772972.html

I know the U2410 is the newer one but it has some issues with tint etc... While the SP2309w is not made anymore and is a little harder to find, it has a high resolution which is a plus (is the resolution normal or is it one of those of shoot ones?). Both seem to have no lag for gaming. I'm just not sure which one is the best choice.
Any other options or opinions is appreciated. I don't want to spend more than $600. If i did, I would buy the Dell U2711... that thing makes me drool.

Current monitor is the Gateway FHD2400. Don't know if anyone knows this monitor. I thought it was ok until I just read all the reviews and how bad the color is and stuff. Main reason for upgrade is building new machine and wifey gets old one and the old monitor.

ADDED: I am not too sure of 3d gaming hence why you don't see any 3d monitors that I was looking at. haven't tried it and really don't feel the need too unless I am really REALLY missing out on something.
