Out of the Blue

I don't know, I expected more effort from the squirrels after I bought the birdfeeder designed to thwart them, as I've seen video of them going to extraordinary lengths to break into feeders... I guess there are enough alternative food sources that it is not worth their trouble. The neat thing is the feeder is also helping keep things fair for the smaller birds, as we have a heavy crow population in this area, and the same mechanism that closes the feeder when squirrels climb on also gets triggered by the weight of more than one crow, so the big guys have to take turns, and cannot dominate the proceedings the way they would with an ordinary feeder.

A particularly vile and worthless bird, IMO.

I guess all opinions aren't created equal.

If you'd like to supplement opinion with actual fact, I can tell you that crows are in fact exceptionally intelligent animals, and a whole lot less vile and worthless than a lot of humans.

I even found a little article on Fox News for you, in case you're more comfortable there Devil

I must say this - the SciPhone is pretty damn cool.....going to take awhile to figure everything out and play around with it to get the stuff on it I want....but no 2 year re-up and no 200+ dollars out of pocket.

Or why not a happily singing fieldfare outside your window at 3:30 in the morning: http://gallery.new-ecopsychology.org/en/photo/e-drozd_r.htm

Try seagulls outside your window. It doesn't help when the trash collection is changed from morning to evening, and they forget to tell anyone. Cue seagulls at dawn waiting to have a party throwing the trash all over the street.

Seeing that Skylab article made me think of the classic song "Skylab" by the Monks off of Bad Habits. Man, that was a killer song on a killer album! Too bad I can't find that song online anywhere.

I'm ass-deep in crows here in N. CA. You shouldn't feed them - that just leads to there being more crows. A particularly vile and worthless bird, IMO. We also have vultures here - I like them, they perform a service - like eating all those dead crows that strangely seem to accumulate around my house.

Hell, I think I'd take the squirrels over the crows - at least they're not as noisy.

The crows are quite noisy, but they seem pretty quiet around the feeder.

Ever see some crows decide to go after a cat? Pretty funny... unless it's happening outside your bedroom window at 5:00 in the morning.

That I've never seen. I did see a whole community of Blue Jays chasing a crow once, though... I think the crow snatched a baby or an egg or something.
