LucasArts is the most hilariously mismanaged company in the industry, they are sitting on IP's worth hundreds of millions yet squander them at every opportunity. Most of their success comes from luck or bandwagoning new genres. It's probably all Lucas' fault. When the new Star Wars movies started coming out they switched their focus almost exclusively to Star Wars products. When they finally realized they were saturating the market they started producing more. Unfortunately much of that "more" ended up either cancelled or simply something they picked up from an outside developer that was using new IP.
I think they're realizing all this now, which is part of why they're doing this. I think they're ready to cash in on all that IP. Maybe we'll get new IP worth a damn, too, like Outlaws and Afterlife were.
And maybe we'll finally learn the true secret of Monkey Island. If Rod Gilbert lets us. |

This series of launches continues LucasArts’ new mission to revitalize its deep portfolio of beloved gaming franchises They could do that by not interfering with dev teams they contract to make projects and deliver games people actually want to play. LucasArts is the most hilariously mismanaged company in the industry, they are sitting on IP's worth hundreds of millions yet squander them at every opportunity. Most of their success comes from luck or bandwagoning new genres. |

| This isn't exactly the most impressive launch. Battlefront 2? Republic Comando? Starfighter? Thrillville? Lego Indiana Jones? They could have done a lot better. |

Even though I own 5* of these games already I would probably buy them in a pack.
Since they are such low requirements and probably filesize I could download Steam on any computer out there in the wilderness log into my account and play some good fuckin long games.
Next time I'm stuck with family and hijack their computer I'll have something to do other than flash games.
*The four adventure games and Armed and Dangerous

| Strike Fleet is another classic one from very early LucasArts. A very fun naval simulator back in the day. |

Loom, The Dig, Grim Fandango, Armed and Dangerous, Fate of Atlantis were a few games I just never did get the chance to play (the upgraded version of Loom required a cd-rom which were WAY out of my budget range when it was released), but it's a chance for me to get some of the other games like Full Throttle, Sam and Max, Xwing Tie Fighter/Dark Forces games without having to deal with other programs, and without a stack of CD's and DRM Manuals laying around.
Plus sadly I was one of the few that missed Outlaws and would love to play it. Especially if the multiplayer works. |

Most of these are back from the days when we had cool stuff such as 591K free base memory required to run, and shit like loadhigh and such. Are they going to make effort to make sure these games run on modern machines, like GOG does?
Edit : Looks like they did. Thanks Mack, for the link.
To be honest, the only game on that list that even remotely interests me is Indy and the Last Crusade, since that was a kick ass game. The rest, eh. :-shrug-: I guess the Dig was pretty cool.
No Tie-Fighter? No Full Throttle?

It's kind of a cool announcement, but really, I own most of these and have already played them so... Even though I've already been there and done that too, I'm hoping they have the X-Wing series eventually and it sells like hot cakes. Maybe then some suit will look at the numbers and say, "hey, how come we haven't made a new game like that?". |

| Personally I'd say if all they are doing is dosboxing them they should be about 3 bucks a piece. If that were the case I'd buy some of the ones I don't own or the ones I've lost over the years. More than that and it's really not that great of a deal. It's kind of a cool announcement, but really, I own most of these and have already played them so... |

I would pay $500 for all those together if they were redone with just new engines. Especially The Dig, Loom and Indy 3 & 4 (would pay $1000 if the whole X-Wing series was included too). Find about 10000 other people as crazy as you and I bet you could get them to do it!

But since I hope they will some day actually be remade, I wont play them with the old engine anymore. I want to remember them as they were. Such old games look horrible and not nearly as remembered on modern monitors. Now, the Monkey Island remake I will gladly buy. |

About what I expected. I already own all the games in that list that I am interested in. Were this for GOG, where all the DRM would have been removed, I might have bought 1 or 2 again just for that. As it is, it's still good news for anyone who has missed some of those.
(Republic Commando was actually much better than I thought it would be and would be worth 5 or 10 bucks.)
Seconded!! These titles are really more suited for GOG. I think I'll wait for a GOG release (unless they're $1.99 each for the old adventure games). |

Whatever it costs at release (since I suspect it will be higher than it should be), I think I'll hold off and wait until the inevitable Steam weekend sale. The fanatics will buy first day and the rest of us can wait until it's priced more reasonably, especially considering that many of us already own many of these games. I have boxes of games just sitting in my garage, but I'd pay something just for the convenience of being able to download them and not have to screw around with setting up DOSBox myself.
