Remember kids: it's not really stealing if they don't have a record of you taking it!

Remember kids: Copying something is "not stealing" at all.

I'll probably buy it...then crack it.

I want to give developers money who create games like this. Why do they make it so difficult to do? This is exactly the sort of game I can see myself reinstalling every 6 months or so to play through again as I've done with Sierra's Caesar III.

I can't wait for this, though I'm concerned about the rumours of it potentially including a three activation limit with no revoke tool.

I can't speak for the north american version, but the european version has the TAGES Online Activation with limited installs, like in "Riddick: Dark Athena" or "Panzers: Cold War". Both already cracked, no hassle for leechers and filesharers, only a burden for the stupid customer, who is still buying this crap.

You go to the local bazaar and buy burned DVDs? If you're sending or receiving any sort of data-stream via your computer, you're as probable to "track" as if you utilized torrents or P2P.

No, I use newsgroups. They are much harder to track because you'd need access to the server logs and newsgroup providers aren't too keen on providing those. In addition, every newsgroup exists on many different servers so there's isn't any central tracker or anything like that.

As such, I'm pretty sure I'm not a part of any statistics used to justify DRM. I also buy games.

Unemployed high school kid who still lives with his/her parents has been tracked as a statistic somewhere, I'm sure. But you're right, it's not really a stat typically used to justify DRM.

I don't use torrents or P2P so I'm much harder to track.

If I recall correctly, you are a self-proclaimed pirate as well. And am I the reason why DRM exists? I doubt it. I don't use torrents or P2P so I'm much harder to track. As such, I'm pretty sure I'm not a part of any statistics used to justify DRM. I also buy games.

That's pretty funny coming from you Jerykk, since you constantly tout about pirating games. You are the reason why DRM exists you stupid twat.

CJ's troll attempt would probably be more effective if DRM actually stopped piracy. In all likelihood, Ubisoft only found out that the games without DRM are pirated just as much as the games with DRM, which should have cast doubt upon the value of using DRM at all. Of course, suits are pretty irrational so who knows what they're thinking.

You don't know why? A simple look in the mirror is your answer, pal. Ubi have probably found out the hard way by less restrictive DRM on the titles you mentioned that thieving assholes like yourself are hurting them more than more restrictive DRM so there ya go.
Epic.

I don't know why they'd suddenly add ultra-restrictive DRM for Anno 1404.

If this is true, Ubisoft has really taken a step backwards. They dropped DRM with Prince of Persia, EndWar and HAWX. I don't know why they'd suddenly add ultra-restrictive DRM for Anno 1404.

The price is also very high, £10 more expensive than Play.com and £12 more expensive than Amazon. If it has DRM I will have to pass and even if it doesn't I may hold off for a price drop. Argh.
