The
Total War Blog promises a new patch next week to update
Empire: Total War
to version 1.3, saying the patch is expected on Monday, June 22. The post
outlines what's planned for the patch, which includes multi-threading for
multi-core CPUs, optimizations for single-core machines, multiplayer tweaks, bug
fixes, and 14 free units to replace generic units, "giving each faction a unique
identity on the battlefield." They also offer descriptions of these new units.

minor unrest is crushed by local troops (i.e. it just costs you some money) so you don't have to check every single province.
Damn. That alone almost makes me want to buy it. The fact that every three turns a completely full (and somehow excellently equipped) army would revolt out of one of my home cities and then rampage across the countryside while I had to take 7 years to get one of my Legions back from the front, drove me to fucking INSANITY in Rome.
That and the absolute fuckwitted decision to implement "Squalor."

Right, because that's how it has happened over the past few thousand years. God, Rome was a great concept and a pretty cool game, but some of those decision made me want to fucking choke the developer with 80 copies of their game.
