Yeah, I agree with this sentiment.
Every time I steal a car, and find I like it, I go out and buy it.
Uh, did I say "steal"?
What I really meant to say was "test drive."
Yeah, when I test drive a car I go out and buy one just like it.
Your analogy and logic is so flawed that this isnt even funny....
Let me clarify, I dont agree with piracy in any way, what pisses me off is people who can't reason to save their lives.
First of all, the car you are "test driving" or "stealing" is a physical object in the real world. It's unique. The make or model is standardised, but the one you are about to hijack is right there in front of you. A software product is a chunck of code to put it bluntly. It exists in however many copies of it anyone desires to make.
When you "pirate" a piece of software you are effectively copying it. Its not like you are taking it away from someone and after that its yours and the person that originally had it now doesnt.
So unless there is a way to magically copy a given vehicle molecule for molecule (so that the original remains with the owner) and then drive it away, this is where the analogy ends.
Here is some more food for thought:
A car manufacturer produces a given number of cars, lets say they are a hit and sell in record numbers.
Now why would they care if someone is stealing cars that they have already sold? Its not like they are losing any money, since all of the stolen cars were previously purchased by someone, whether car dealerships or private persons?
Now this little analogy has a little flaw in it as well, can anyone spot it?
