The game-play demo I saw (with one developer playing while one explained what we were watching) left me less than impressive. Not that I don't wish them luck.

That was in the GDC '06 demo, wasn't it? Showcasing "the power of dual core" iirc.

If it was a PC exclusive DX10 title, then yea, one might wonder about the hardware requirements. But since it's also coming on the 360, you can be fairly sure that any pc from the last few years will be able to play it. And i bet it will get hacked to run on XP as well, just like Halo 2 was.

The problem is, that Alan Wake has been showcased on some sorta Intel Skynet Computer from the future that's super cooled with the same stuff Nasa uses on the Space Shuttle. Throw in DX10 only and I have to wonder if I'll even be able to afford a new computer to play it on, and/or what all was cut to allow it to be playable on the 360.

Alan Wake is actually the one game I was waiting for before upgrading to vista. Now, joyously, it looks like I can just skip vista and move to 7 instead.

Wow! I completely forgot about this one. Maybe by the time it ships, its DirectX 10 exclusivity won't be such an issue. I plan on having Windows 7 by then, and I'm betting that a lot of people who avoided Vista will as well. It seems to be an Xbox 360 exclusive for now.... |

Prey is still the king of longest developement. Was announced in 1995, didn't get released until 2006.

Haha, Alan Wake. This game was pretty close behind DNF for vapor star of the century.
actually, now that Duke has (presumably) been canned, Alan Wake currently has the crown for longest in development. When was this announced, 2004?
Also, it's a DX10 only game, so I'm sure it'll sell like hotcakes.
