Loved the first game and the expansion once my hardware caught up.

BTW, the Sorian AI mod pretty much reduces the late game lag to nothing for me. Try it out.

HardCore where are you getting your facts from? I can tell you now without doubt that the same people who made SupCom1 are the same ones working on SupCom2. And the reason I know this is because Chris Taylor is a good friend of mine. Fact!

Then it must be "fact!" he didn't tell you.
I spoke w/ several key folks during the project, I know of their exodus, and I know where they are now. They are working on their own game which is coming along.

Besides, being made a multiplatform console game right out of the gate it has 1% chance of being a great successor to the original.

Any idea where they went? I don't follow that stuff much, but I really liked SupCom's interface and engine (pathing issues aside). They did a fantastic job on it. Wonder what they're doing now.

Close to a year ago now. Some of them left during Demigod development and quite a few banded together to make their own company. Devs, leads and some mgmt.

Straight from GPG the games pathing has been overhauled in SupCom2. This was a big part of the issues with the AI units that was causing lag because of pathing. Among other issues to that’s been fixed and optimized. So rest assured the game will play much better.

They said much the same thing about the expansion, and did things get better? No, they got a lot fucking worse.

I can't play any long game with AIs in it without the sim speed dropping to -10. Since I either play alone with AIs or with a mate with AIs, that's a game breaker for me.

It would take something like a change of management over there at GPG for a problem of this nature to actually get fixed, because the old management definitely did not give a rats arse.

Shut up z0dd,

the reason they arent showing game play yet is because they are saving it for E3. its all about markiting and hype, if you havent learned that yet about the gaming Devs you need to find a new hobbie.

Worthless CGI movie. Show gameplay or don't bother. I fo to the movies to watch stories, and play games to, you know, play.

Except many of the heavy hitters and mgmt. that worked on SupCom are gone, including the mastermind behind the engine.

What I don't like is that GPG has been doing some weird shit with their last couple releases, including DemiGod and the SupCom expansion that causes them to not run on systems that use Comodo. Usually you get no error or anything, they just won't launch.

I guess you can say "same company" for as much as that means.

since the first one was crap, I can't imagine any reason this one would come out all shiny and wonderful. Still, if you loved the first one... party on.

So is this going to be like Total Annihilation: Kingdoms was to the original TA? TA:Kingdoms was an insult to fans of the original. Here we have a different developer making SupCom2 also. I'm highly skeptical especially since Chris Taylor is well known for applying thick coats of BS.

Some RTS games are needlessly overcomplicated which stops me from getting hardcore into most of them. I'd rather focus on the tactics on the battlefield than managing my economy or something else.

How was SupCom overcomplicated? The only thing I can see what was perhaps a little cloudy was the adjacency stuff, but other than that it's build shit and kill shit.

Together with the absolutely MOST FABULOUS user interface ever developed for an RTS. Every RTS that has a UI not like SupCom's should be docked 20% on their review score.

"Hmmm, I'm building tanks here, from three factories, and I want them mass over there, on that island, so I can use them to assault that base."

In Supcom : Click fabs, right click on master fab. Set waypoint from master fab to island. Select group of transport units, right click on master fab. Done.

In all other RTSes : Select units to build on three fabs individually. Set three waypoints. Fly transport units manually to waypoints. Wait for tanks to arrive, manually load them into transport units. Manually fly transport units to island. Manually unload transport units.

SupCom's UI is a gift from heaven.

I can't wait for SupCom 2 to come out. Loved both of them, despite the buggy mess that was Forged Alliance.

Edit : I don't get why Squeenix is involved.

Because they bought GPG.

I loved the first one just like it was and I preferred it on... PC! (ZOMG, who is this guy?!) I don't get why Squeenix is involved. Hopefully they can put a human side in to the game and flesh out some characters. They were good before but some drama would be good. That game was already simplified... Chris, no sound bug on main menu this time ok, please?

Alot more info I got from there. But I am glad they are simplifying it. Some RTS games are needlessly overcomplicated which stops me from getting hardcore into most of them. I'd rather focus on the tactics on the battlefield than managing my economy or something else.
