Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Movie, Delay

The Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Website is serving up a new video showing off Skira, the 220 square kilometer island that will serve as a battlefield in the upcoming military shooter. The clip is mirrored on ActionTrip and Gamer's Hell. Also, though the bottom of the page with the video still says "coming in summer 2009 for major console platforms and PC," the clip reveals a delay, as it concludes saying "Autumn 2009."

I believe they should of made a BF3 style of gameplay to capture the BF community, Bf2 sold 17.5million copies, but instead theyve gone for plain open fields zzzzzz...

I don't want battlefield style gameplay but I wouldn't object to there being a proper squad system with updated voip settings - one where the enemy can hear you and you need to be near another player to be heard, there's already a software package that does this called mumble.

@jackplug
I'm glad they didnt go the BF2 route, I loved Bf2 just like everyone else but I absolutely LOVE realism in my games & this one will have far more than BF2.

The engine can produce some stunning visuals, hopefully the delay will see the new stuff added to Dirt 2 make its way into this game.

from what's been shown so far the game definitely needs a lot more work.

Wow.. Is that actual in-game footage??

No, that's CG. Certainly the part with the character in the mountains is.
There are only a small handful of actual in game videos out there. In those it looks decidedly average.

The Square looking optics are EOTech ones. The got no magnification, just like the Aimpoint M68.

What`s with the square looking scopes? I saw these in the ARMA II Footage as well. I`ll be using the ACOGs.

I think they are finding out exactly how hard it is to produce a realistic military simulation. I hope that one day we will see gameplay and graphics as seen in their first two cinematics released. The quality of the smoke and depth of space are two items missing from even ARMAII, the obvious gold-standard to beat.

I am keeping my fingers crossed, and I will be surprised if their first game can surpass ARMAII. As a gamer, I hope it does!

Some pretty bad motion tracks when adding their sinage graphics. They should have used BOUJOU or added those to the textures in the first place.

It looks like in-game footage. The smoke trail and Quake-type light on the missile hitting the BMP is a giveaway. Also, the landscape seems to suffer from a very short LOD. It's hard to really pin this down with the fast-forward video editing.

Based on the other videos I've seen of OpDp2 its perfectly plausible for in-game footage.

That youtube video is some sort of conceptual visualization. It's not in-game. As far as the new trailer, well.. meh? Stalker looks better.

I'm okay with the delay because ArmA II is coming out in late June (this year) so if they delay OFP2 to improve it (pc version) that's fine by me.
