Despite all of the naysayers around here it's rare to find a game with such amazing depth. Little things like finding a little shack unmarked in the map with a story attached to it.

This is what I like about the game the most, and its main improvement over Beth's other games: it actually rewards exploration. Just about every place you go to has a little story to it, if you're willing to piece it together. In Oblivion there really was no reason to explore dungeon #213 unless a quest took you there, and even then it was just a guy or an item sitting at the back of the place. Morrowind was largely the same (although a little better in that regard), and Daggerfall obviously as well, what with the thousands of randomly generated locations. Hopefully they'll actually keep going in this direction from now on.

The only problem with Fallout 3 Mods is that their are a MILLION mods for it. Most are actually pretty well done so it makes it even more difficult to find the ones you want to add.

I fail to see why this is a problem?

MMMF3's mod sounds awesome - going to give that a try!

Eh, you can't really expect Bethesda to build their DLC around the million mods out there. The active mods will adapt to fit just like they did with the Oblivion DLC. It isn't that big of a thing.

I do wish I didn't have to pay with "carnival money". I really would like to have this DLC though. :p

Broken Steel finally sounds like a good expansion to FO3. I especially like that they're taking your choice with regards to "purify water/poison with FEV" into account.

Too bad for the first few months, we'll only be able to buy it with Microsoft's carnival money.

Also, Broken Steel will probably break the magnificent MMM

Already broken apparently. It seems that the 1.5 patch to introduce the pointless achievements for Broken Steel has broken a significant amount of mods. Pretty much any mod that adds any new locations or creatures is currently buggered with the new patch.

The mods are a bit more complicated to setup than Oblivion is really the problem. Getting FOMM - Fallout Mod Manager makes this easier. Basically if you just want more challenge then grab MMM - Martigan's Mutant Mod which really enhances the enemies in the game. FWE - Fallout Wastelanders Edition adds proper bullet time and makes the gunplay more like a true FPS as opposed to an FPS simulator.

There are wikis with setup documentation and such. Generally it's a pain in the ass for the first time doing it but after that you should be good to go on others as most install in the same manner.

Even if you just install MMM, trust me you'll get a lot more out of your Fallout experience(which was already a great game by itself). I'm really looking forward to Broken Steel, it's taken about 5 months but I think I've finally done the majority of the stuff in the game. Despite all of the naysayers around here it's rare to find a game with such amazing depth. Little things like finding a little shack unmarked in the map with a story attached to it. Today I killed some quest NPC named Sydney and found out she was the orphan of some guy who died in a hotel, I found his audiotape saying goodbye to her and realized what I had done. Just a great game.

What are the mods like for this game on the PC? (Or are there any mods?) I'd love for this game to go on sale on steam eventually and be able to get it that way with the DLC.

I assume the mods have improved the PC version a lot at this point?

If they released a GOTY edition with all the patches & DLC I would easily buy this game AGAIN at full price!

Fallout 3 is something I intend to buy at some point in the future. Hopefully a GOTY edition or something that combines all these content packs will come available or cheap.
