for a year or two now i've been thinking there's either going to be enough protest to stop the institution of bandwidth caps or online streaming/distribution is going to die and brick and mortar reasserts itself.

These companies want bandwidth caps because they think they can get away with them. Is anyone really going to pay a hundred or more dollars per month so they can watch TV online when it's less than half that to watch it on your TV? Caps will just keep you from watching the game online or catching up on your favorite shows. If only the high-paying customers have the money to watch them, there won't be enough viewers for companies to justify streaming their shows online. This push for bandwidth caps is motivated solely by greed - despite posting great profits, you can never have profits great enough I guess.
Huh? I'm sorry, I was thinking about cake.
