Where is this then? Where they fight against those warring in obedience to:
"the Messenger of Allah . . . would say: 'Fight in the name of Allah and in the way of Allah. Fight against those who disbelieve in Allah. Make a holy war. . . . When you meet your enemies who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. . . . Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them. . . . If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah's help and fight them . . .'" (Muslim Book 19, Number 4294).
"fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war) . . . " (Qur’an 9:5).
"Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued" (Qur'an 9:29).
"Allah's Apostle said: 'I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah's Apostle . . . '" (Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 24).
"Allah’s Apostle said, 'I have been made victorious with terror. The treasures of the world were brought to me and put in my hand'" (Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 220).

So lemme get this straight... soldiers are overseas fighting and dying for our freedoms, but when one of those of those freedoms involves making and playing a game based on soldiers fighting and dying for our freedoms, people get upset?
I think my head broke... |

as far as I'm aware nobody is actually forced to join the army these days? (since like NAM?) so its really like a job then isn't it? you choose to go to hell and back because it pays better than working at the 7-11.
so these goverment approved mercs shouldn't go crying that somebody made a game or a movie about it. they were hardly forced into it.
(edit: the looks like a piece of crap anyway)

I hope this piece of shit game never sees the light of day. I don't care about the "situation" or the "realism". It looks like shit, it looks like it plays like shit. You can call a turd a patriotic organic display of nationalism.. but it's still a turd.
And to all you nutsacks crying that you've been censored.. You're so outraged... You've been slighted... Don't worry, this game will be released and soon on the $9.99 aisle right next to a slightly more realistic game, namely Barbie Horse Adventures.

This is censorship at its finest. Show us ... where has something, regarding this game, been censored?
Its called choice Yes, Konami choose to drop this game. No one forced them. |

This is censorship at its finest. Speak with your wallet. When you don't like something on TV, turn the fucking channel. Don't like the topic of a movie? Don't see it.
Its called choice, something that has been eroded from America for the past 15 years.
Fucking idiots. |

Yeah the PR hype made it sound realistic, but then i read that comment upthread about regenerating health and how US soldiers in the game can take 10 hits to the chest and keep walking. I mean... wtf...?
This reminds me of those Jet Fighter games. In Jet Fighter IV's story and manual, the game condemns liberal Americans repeatedly. The game isn't very realistic at all, it's just an arcade game. It just seems silly, making an arcade game and then trying to advertise it as some kind of patriotic and real-world relevant game.. |

I'm glad it was dropped. From reading the article, it sounds like Atomic Games might be able to find another publisher though, so if you really want it, you can still cross your fingers for it.
Here's a BBC article I thought was sorta relevant. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7704729.stm
"Formally a pacifist nation under its American-written constitution, Japan is also at heart a passionately pacifist society - sometimes startlingly so.
People here can be heard wishing for world peace in a tone that to Western ears might carry a touch of naivety, like a leaf torn from the book of beauty pageant contestants.
The very gestures that would be considered routinely patriotic elsewhere, such as flying the national flag or playing the national anthem, remain intensely controversial in Japan.
..A significant left-liberal strand of public opinion holds both symbols to be inherently fascistic.
..a wealth of unobtrusive signs suggests militarism and aggression have been durably expelled from Japan's collective psyche."
I was surprised Konami had signed up for such a game. Obviously not all Japanese people are left-wing hippies, the BBC article points out right-wing loudspeaker vans that drive around cursing at left-wingers, but I figured enough left-wing types were in Konami that such a game would not be approved. I guess I was right in the end. |
