Photobucket
has a bunch of screenshots purported to be from Raven's upcoming Wolfenstein
game. The images are labeled copyright id Software, but
Shacknews has not
gotten a reply from them about the authenticity of the shots, and while
Activision did not confirm them as authentic, they did not deny them either.
IW tore out the renderer, obviously, and replaced it with their own, completely proprietary one (Quake3 never used DX for rendering). A lot of the core stuff is still there.
How is this news anyway? Or more to the point, why is it portrayed as such a big deal? We have already seen screen shots of this upcoming game ages ago... and even a trailer!!
CoD4 claims to be an all new proprietary engine, But in the fine print on the box and jewel case there is a disclaimer that says, software technology from Id software. Meaning they based enough code off id's to necessitate a disclaimer.
Did well enough for CoD4, despite what some people here may want to argue.
There's nothing to argue, because you're wrong. Why in the world would you think CoD4 used the Quake 3 engine? CoD4 used a completely proprietary engine.
The screenshots look like they're from 2002... pretty backwards. Then again, they look in line with the previous shots / scans / videos that were released. This game is going to be weak at best... complete waste of the IP.
