Warhammer Online Trial

The Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Website now offers a 10-day free trial of Mythic Entertainment's MMORPG. "A call to arms has been issued! With the new free trial we are making it possible for everyone to experience non-stop Realm vs. Realm combat wrapped up in a next generation MMO." is the accompanying quote from Mark Jacobs, who adds: "What started out as a great game has only gotten better as the team has added an incredible amount of content with our first live expansion. For gamers that have yet to experience the glory of WAR, there is no better time to join the battle!" The free trial offers the opportunity to participate in the Bitter Rivals event, and the 10-day trial can be upgraded to a full retail account at any time.

So I got the mailing list for this game about this 10 days trial. But its mailing list didn't have an unsubscribe. How do I unsubscribe from it?

Dems the risks.

Personally - I've been waiting for a trial before playing this game. I applied for, but didn't get in the beta, and after AoC, I won't try an MMO without a free trial. So, while there might be risks of gold spammers, there's probably other potential players out there that just won't get into this unless we get a peek.

I'm actually a little cheesed it took them this long to put out a free trial client.

Darkfall went live and nobody noticed.

Was there even a blues post about it?

There was but the announcement had a lot of question marks attached to it.

The cynic in me wonders how many gold farmers are licking their lips at the prospect of grabbing their free trial accounts. While in-game mail is blocked according to the FAQ, there's no mention of in-game chat being restricted.

How can anything that is already out be NEXT GENERATION, let alone something like Warhammer that is a clone of something 5 years old, and has design elements dating back 10 years.

I hate the misuse of that term, and PR-speak in general. PR goons are second only to lawyers as far as who is the scummiest of scum among non-criminals.

If you don't like where gaming is heading, stop giving your money to the people who are taking it in that direction.

Great game, but since it has a very low pop now, it's not very fun.

Beautiful graphics, often patched and slowly becoming a well honed game. a VERY well made game, with lots of pvp that even longtime carebear players can get into. there's an AH that works great, a portal system (fly by dragon), mounts, and a fairly good group dynamic. quests are the primary way to level (read: are mandatory) and sometimes have gear rewards that are worthwhile.

it is a strictly level based game, as usual nowadays, optimize your guy every level, there's not a great deal of noticeable improvement. the only actual customization is skill trees. it is empty of people, and hard to find a party. it's a blast if you enjoy solo melee-ing, but if you like group healing: good luck to you, sir. there is no customization of character appearance, beyond color. every level 40 Chosen is identical to every other lvl 40 chosen, just diffent colored armor.

GREAT game, worth the money, in dire need of a population.

Next Gen is a corporate catch phrase that means nothing beyond it's marketing.

If anything WAR is a few gens old simply because it's design is/was terribly backwards. Hell there are parts of DAoC that are more modern compared to WAR, and thats a 7 odd year old game.
