I'm guessing they renamed it because they don't think American audiences will understand or appreciate a Latin name. The Anno series isn't that big in the U.S. so I don't think changing the name will hurt it. Still, it's somewhat depressing that foreign developers/publishers think so little of American audiences. Even sadder that American audiences tend to live up to these expectations.

As for the game itself, I think it looks great. Visually, that is. I really love the lighting and the detail. I'm not that interested in city-builders but I may give this one a try.

I'm really looking forward to this, though I have no idea why it would have a different name in North America. Hopefully we'll see a Steam release as well... and in the UK, as Ubisoft finally decided that they'd release H.A.W.X here (up until recently it wasn't showing here).

Oh, and the Wii version looks surprisingly good. It features a completely new visual direction and actually looks better than any other Wii game I've seen, though I have no idea how the control system would work.

Seriously, what's the deal with that? Are NA customers going to be scared of the word Anno? They renamed the previous games, like Anno 1701 to 1701 A.D. too.

I can't imagine why they would want to rename the game for North America.
