Out of the Blue

I've gotten mail from folks trying to send email to the BlueTower of some wonky behavior on our mail server's end, including bounced and delayed messages, so if you have experienced such inconveniences, our apologies. On that same topic, I'll welcome recommendations for a mail provider, my main criteria are that they be secure and reliable, and not ruthlessly filter mail and blacklist domains on the sender's end with no user configuration options, as is the case with Network Solutions.

They already have awards that people can vote on, they're called The People's Choice Awards. ANd even they don't get it entirely right, but it's as close as you're going to get.

In short, ignore awards shows and pay attention to what you like.

TBF, "mail itself remained accessible through IMAP clients"

I do think you're less likely to get a virus if your email is coming through a large email provider, as they have some serious commercial kit kept much more up to date than the usual once a day at best that you get from retail programs. The only time a virus has been detected on my PC is when I ran POP/IMAP mail. It was unactivated in the junk email folder, which means at the time the AV missed it coming in. Admittedly Thunderbird junked it and I wouldn't have opened it anyway, but my massive Hotmail and Gmail junk folders never go anywhere near my pc.

(with IMAP you can also set to not download junk folders, though you might have to review them occasionally so a web interface is handy)

BTW, Enahs... Blues News live chat is still up?

Blue replaced the advertising section that had nothing in it with the lan parties section. And since nobody ever seemed to use it I never updated it.

I can update it so it works, it is quite easy. But you people are bastards and never used it...I hate you guys.

@How to Fix the Oscars- Make the Votes Public.

Simple. Nominate movies I have actually fucking heard of.
Slumdog Millionaire- Huh? Wha?

The other reason I don't watch them is every year I know without a doubt I will disagree with every win.

The ratings are going to shit because your average person is not some artsy old fart. This is why I loved the MTV Movie awards... at least for the first 3-4 years of it. I watched the winners after that but just could not stomach the show anymore.

If I could stop people from you from voting I would.

Seriously. You support giving awards to Michael Bay and you somehow went through 2008 without hearing about Slumdog Millionaire, which managed to make $100 million dollars.

It's not that the Oscars are "artsy," it's that your taste in entertainment is probably terrible.

I'm in the same situation, Blue.

I've been considering using Google Apps Mail, which would basically point bluesnews.com email to be hosted through Google's email servers. You can access it through IMAP or POP, or the web-based interface (which of course looks like GMail). If you choose the paid account, there is a 99.9% uptime guarantee, but if you choose the free email, there are ads. I can't tell if there are only ads in the web-based interface, or if they appear in the message if you get it through pop.

Anyways, I haven't decided yet, though part of my concern is migrating to a exchange server in the future if we get bigger.

On that same topic, I'll welcome recommendations for a mail provider

Why not just use a gmail address for submissions?

Actually Dmitri, its just a good enjoyable film, if you think that poverty, religion, social injustice and intolerance are feel-good subjects than this is not a movie for you.

So...is Slumdog Millionaire a feel good movie about luck..set in India? Sounds wonderful. For westerners in search of a fucking fairy tale.

Yeah, American Idol for cinema. Great.

I watched Slumdog Millionaire, and it happens to be the best movie of 2008 hands down, and IMO one of the best flicks Ive seen period! It would have been a huge dissapointment had Benjamin Button won.

Now that would have been a true "fix".
