D4rkKnight.. Good point. Sims didn't influence that much except EA's bank account. No really, I mean that. Quake1 has been a massive influence on the FPS scene. Dedicated servers, true 3d graphics, 3d accelerated graphics (glquake), native TCP/IP support, multiplayer mods like CTF and Team Fortress, 3d positioned sounds, so much more.. I'm not sure it should be behind the Dooms, which I also loved (except I that still play Quake1 but not the Dooms).

Quake1 is one of the most influential games of all, let alone PC games. That's a good list overall though. Civ1/2 are great also. The Ultimas were huge for the RPG scene way back to the early 80s.

I'd put Dungeon Master AND the early Ultimas far ahead of the Diablos as far as 'influential' goes (but not as profitable, certainly).
