The article is simply inaccurate. The game was only revealed (in its current form) by Cryptic last July, having taken over from Perpetual (the developer named on that site).

Uh how old is this Star Trek article?

Star Trek Online is currently under development, and is expected to enter beta testing in 2006 with launch in early 2007

Uh, yeah.

I still don't know how this game will be able to succeed, and I'll be very surprised if it does.

I think the Star Trek game is looking very promising, both graphically and in terms of authenticity to the franchise. The continued timeline has been very interesting and this has the potential to be the first MMO to get me to part with my money.

Also, Anno 1404 still looks amazing. Can't wait.

The screens don't look bad for an MMO.
