The tackle football playoffs begin today, which is good news. I do have to repeat a complaint about evening playoff games, though, as the late game kicks off at 8:00 pm today, something I'm not very wild about. At least the NFL hasn't gone the way of Major League Baseball, where a vast majority of the post-season is now played at night. I understand that TV ratings play into this, but I feel it's a mistake to do anything that limits a sports' exposure to young fans. Oh well, that can be another campaign pledge for when I run for emperor of the world: All playoff games will be during the day.

I sure know I'm glad that I live on the west coast when it comes to being a sports fan. If I did live on the east coast I probably would have to do the DVR thing (I don't even own one now) but then I'd also have to insulate myself from the world so as not to find out who won, because once I know that I lose a lot of interest in watching the actual game.

If you run all playoff games during the day, I guess everyone who has to work during the day is just shit out of luck, huh... I fail to see why everyone still complains about this anyways. Doesn't everyone have a DVR by now? Tape the Saturday night game, watch it Sunday morning. Problem solved. Seriously, out of all the problems with the NFL (and MLB), the time when the playoff games start seems to be the one that's most harped about, and it's really the one with absolutely the least impact. You timezone elitists. 8pm your time is 7, 6 and 5pm for other people in the continental US. 2pm if you are in Alaska and 1pm if you are in Hawaii.

Yeh but... I have to drive to the fish store that is about an hour away - the nice "gap" before the 4:00 game today makes that possible. Using up all of the useful daylight on both weekend days would suck.
