Gabe needing to STFU, because he's being a hypocrite
He said "most DRM strategies are just dumb", obviously thinking that their own, works. Millions seem to agree.
Just because you disagree, doesn't make him a hypocrite.
So since I have a legit copy of HL2... instead of creating a steam account, I feel no guilt in using a "steam free" torrented version instead.
Neither do I. But that isn't the discussion here.
I get marketing crap from them all the time, and it pisses me off.
That's what the "unsubscribe" function is for. I used to get a lot of them too...but I was smart enough to use the feature that was available to me to stop those from being sent.
Other than Newegg and Amazon
Speaking of hypocrites...You blast Valve for this, but you openly admit using 2 of the largest e-tailers that collect far more information about your buying habits and then advertise to you based on that information and share that information with third-parties.
The only advertising with Steam is the pop-ups...that can be turned off by any user.
