Out of the Blue

Well, I survived my experience at the Department of Motor Vehicles; there was a pretty long line there, but things moved along smoothly enough. As was pointed out in the forums, I am still well within the grace period for license renewal, so I'm still on the road. You have been warned.

DMV should offer a drive-thru lane for vehicle renewals. I'll give you guys a moment to let that sink in.

Around here the DMV is legendary for their lack of customer service. Everything they seem to do screams "We're a gov. agency, and we don't give a shit how long you have to wait".

I went to the local Verizon Wireless store yesterday to renew my contract, and it was very much the same. I think they realize all other cell companies in our area suck for coverage, and therefore they kind of have a monopoly, and hence the crappy service.

The local cable co. used to be like this too until DirecTV took 3/4 of their business away ....

Last time I renewed my license, you just take the form they send in the mail, your old license and $20 to the DMV and they give you a new one. I didn't have to wait long either.

You used to have to go to the DMV, fill out the paperwork, pay $10 and you'd get a temp license and have to wait 6-8 weeks for your new license to arrive by mail.

No vision test for Arizona drivers then? Distressing.

There was a guy taking the vision test in front of me that was squinting so hard that they started joking about it, but the fact that he was able to haltingly make out the line on the chart this way seemed to be satisfactory to all. Then the girl after him getting her first license looked 12 years old to me. Each instance made me feel really safe heading back out to the roads.

It would surprise many how many elderly STAY in MN, SD, ND, and WI. Amazing....all year around.

Some of them aren't even sure how many cars and homes they own...

Shawshank redemption: Great movie, its even better in writing.

Stephen King rocks. Not always, but this one was spot on.

East coast elderly go to Florida (the Seinfelds). Midwest to Arizona. (Trying desperately to keep my parents away...)

Never fails. Some car doing 10 mph under speed limit in far left lane = Old peeps.

To add to that, this town swells by about 10% during the winter months and the cost of living as well.

LOL. Apparently if you can read the website you are good to go. You bring up a good point though as this is where many old people come to die....

Some yes... but I believe the majority of old people come to die in my good old state of Florida

Damn Blue! I didn't need to see that. Shawshank was/is a great, great movie.

I am pretty selective with my DVD purchases and this is one of them. If ever there was a man's love story (without being gay), this is it.

Superb flick.
