Hell, this world would be so boring without people you can laugh about.

Agreed. Thank you for being born.

I suppose that applies to all competitive games then, right? Top of the ladder? e-peen. Find a nice weapon in XYZ game? no-life points. Hell, the XBox Live is just one big epeen/no-life isn't it?

With a nice weapon I can hurt enemies even more. That means more fun for me.
Top of the Ladder is e-peen bragging. Yep. Did you just find out?
And XBox Live is a fucking e-peen comparison fest - for kiddies.
"OMG OMG OMG! I f0uNdZ0Rz 3 De47h c4rDz! 1 m0r3 tH4N U!"

But sure, if you like to drop 90 yards without dying to get an achievement, I got no problems with that.

I applaud you for typing out what I refused to, LFace.

I'm not sure why you bothered, though... when these jokers take their narrow-minded views of one extreme (wow is ultra-simple and requires no skill) or the other (wow will destroy your life and make your cat hate you), it's much easier to just call them morons and move on.

I have to pipe up my two penneth worth regarding this whole charade of wow no-lifers and no skill.

Ive been playing wow on and off for the past 3 years (currently had continuous sub for the last 2 years) and Im married. WoW has at no point affected my personal life, in fact it has become a social aspect of it. My wife plays it with me (two subs, two comps) and a few mates at work also play on the same server as me and in my guild as well.

WoW does require some skill - to say its mashing the same button to make sure you dont wipe in raids is complete bollocks and uneducated as that is like saying all you do in [insert latest objective FPS game name here] is click left mouse button repeatedly to win the round - its rubbish and everybody would know that. There is tactics you have to use to overcome problems, you need to know what to do in which situation, you need to watch out for yourself and attack the relevant person to succeed. Any online multiplayer game requires the same skill. Put a noob in front of any game against other people and they will get owned, likewise on WoW; Stick someone in a battleground and they will be cannon fodder at the first meeting against the other side.

Ive noticed a trend lately that WoW is the whipping boy for people to slate and slag off on every single article posted about it, and I fail to see why as all arguments state something along the lines of its a grind fest and full of no-lifers who have no skill. Ive been into games for years and used to play quake 2 online (didnt have net when Q1 came out) for hours a day with friends and have been into gaming ever since. To me, WoW is just as fun, if not better, than any other online game ive played and I was heavily into RTCW for a long time.

I guess its just the latest internet fad to slag off the most popular MMO game of now and call its players no-lifers when the people who are saying said comments probably spend just as much time on a different online game or at least a single player game and posting on gaming forums.

Same thing they've done since they came out. Some modify titles, some give you items (you can get a mount or pet through them). The majority are just so you can see the progress of your guild-mates since it spams the guild when you hit one.

As I said then. Only e-peen/no-life points.

The point is, spending hours on end everyday, breaking up with your spouse, becoming a couch potato, getting all out absorbed in any computer game is basically sad. MMO's literally relate to family break ups and even suicide, over a computer game... Blizzard are offering people the chance to give up their lives for like, 8 hours a day with many people, and there are 11 million people jumping on this bandwagon, it is quite literally, sad.

Jesus christ, you're almost as dense as InBlack. Almost.

I let Dogmeat die within 30 minutes of getting him in Fallout 3: he is a nuisance.

Yeah, I suck at WoW. I suck at spending 4+ hours a day glued to my PC, grinding day in and day out, to reach max lvl, and then spending even more time going on raids, where you have to be at your 120% skill mode, spamming that hotkey unless you want everyone to wipe.
Yeah WoW takes real skill which I dont have...

Now please, does someone want a game of Quake Dm4 1 on 1? This game requires no skill whatsoever...

Seriously, WoW doesnt require skill, it does however require time, more time than I have in any case.

I assume the people who consistently bash WoW are individuals who tried the game and weren't very good at it.

This is sad.

When does one get so low as to be concerned with pets & such in a false world. --- Frosty

Ironically, my collector's edition pet for Wrath of the Lich King is Frosty the Frostwyrm.

I have to defend NiN on this one, NiN happens to be a ruthless pirate as well as a WoW fanboi.

So there is no way that he can objectively contribute to this argument in any way.

eah! Fuck Fallout 3 and Fable 2, also.

How dare we have animals in our games!

Now, nin, to be fair:

At least Dogmeat in Fallout 3 and InsertDogNameHere in Fable 2 have a practical use, they find you shit and assist you actively in the game world.

I'm not sure the bear cub is that useful in Barbie's Epic Dressup Ques..err...WoW.

Do the achievements do anything now, or are they still just e-peen/no-life points without any other meaning?
