Hellgate: London Update Plans

Game Espresso has a letter from the Product Manager for Hellgate: London at HanbitSoft, a self-professed "fellow user that loves to play Hellgate: London." The post confirms recent indications that HanbitSoft now owns the Hellgate IP, and says they are working on a new update "that is to surpass" The Abyss Chronicles, saying this will be available through their website, though it is not clear if this will be free to owners of Hellgate: London "lifetime" subscriptions: "Since acquiring the intellectual property rights, HanbitSoft Inc., the publisher and distributor of Hellgate: London in Asia, has concentrated on the development of Hellgate: London, and has received many inquiries regarding new updates. Our US development studio is currently working on an update that is to surpass 'The Abyss Chronicles.' This game will be available through our Web site. We thank you once again for showing your interest and ask for your continuous support for Hellgate: London, as we hope to bring good news shortly. In the meantime, we will continue developing the world’s best game!" Thanks Gamasutra.

It's free to play for all (Namco supported), even Stonehenge, until 1/31/09. Then it's game over for US/EU.

Do they still charge people to play this online right now? I'm guessing there are a few people who play it still, and to those few, are you still paying for that service?

I'm not surpised that some people want it to come back but I think the biggest flaw in this game was trying to charge for letting people play this game online. (In any way shape or form)

You know what, I have to support these guys. I hope they make a hit out of this game and then I will laugh my butt off. Muhahahah

You were saying?

You flop more than a fish. Blindly defended the game and Flagship vehemently. Then you join the bandwagon and bash them when their stupid shit sunk the ship. Then with the tiniest glimmer of hope and you flop again...only to be shut down...again. Who has the last laugh?

"For the love of Gods! Why won't they let it just lay there in peace?"
A lot of people don't want it to die, me included. OK it was buggy when it came out but that was mostly fixed and it's a stable game now.

Yes it is similar near the start but it gets much better late game with more of a variety of environments.
Not a perfect game but as a whole I thought it was very good and I would still be paying the subscription if they let me.

Can they work on Mythos again instead? I had more fun with that.

They never said the "world's best game" is Hellgate, merely that they are developing it.
