if you're going to break your own rule, you should do it for a game that is a truly great experience that will stay with you for a long time, like Dead Space, rather than a game that is merely passable like Far Cry 2.
Dead Space looks utterly generic to me - the movement painfully slow and the environments very linear and repetitive. I have little interest in third person games anyway but even less in the action-horror genre. Meanwhile FarCry 2 I'm having an absolute blast with (just found a gold AK47 and got onto the second map in singleplayer, neither of which I knew existed) - it is so much better than "passable". If I was to break a DRM boycott it would most certainly be for FarCry 2.
So, once again we see that game preference is incredibly subjective. Dead Space is of little-to-no interest to me, whereas I'd been looking forward to FarCry 2 for a while (and thankfully it's lived up to expectations).
