Dexter on PCs

The revelation earlier this year of plans for a game from Marc Ecko Entertainment based on the serial killer show Dexter (story) was a little light on details, and had no indication about the game's target platforms, though it seems the iPhone was announced as one of them at some point after that. Joystiq now says that this game will also be released for PC after attending a Dexter-themed party thrown by Marc Ecko Entertainment (where we can only hope they graffitied the walls). No release date is offered, but word is if the iPhone/PC release is successful, the game will find its way onto other platforms as well.

I predict that this game will be every bit as good as the third Dexter novel

The problem with making a game out of Dexter is that 90% of Dexter has nothing to do with Dexter actually killing people.
Exactly. Still, I never got into the series; the pilot was incredible but the actual series was dumbed down shit with clichéd characters. I don't quite know how they went wrong.

Point&click adventure is the best I can think of, personally. Might not hve been so bad.
Yeah, I think that would be the way to do it.

Ah, good ol' adventure games. That reminds me I have had Gabriel Knight: sins of the fathers lying around for a while. I just finished Grim Fandango so I'll install this next.

I'm trying to still wrap my head around how they can actually make a game around Dexter...

I hope in the game you can kill, kill and kill and cut people in pieces.
The game will be rated E for everyone.

It shouldn't be too hard. Just remake Hitman 1/2, but change the requirement to capturing the target, then add a dismemberment minigame.
A dismemberment minigame? Uh, right. Even the show doesn't show Dexter dismembering people. Anyone who would be interested in a dismemberment minigame needs to see a doctor.

Hitman 1/2 with a few modifications would not be deserving of the name "Dexter." The problem with making a game out of Dexter is that 90% of Dexter has nothing to do with Dexter actually killing people. There are stories and characters that would no doubt take a back seat to any simplistic, single-minded, mundane gameplay.

But, of course, I expect them to screw it up royally.

Dexter is a great show but this game will most likely disappoint.

I think you mean "worst game of the year." The show's great, but the game is virtually guaranteed to be a soulless, generic mockery of the show.
