Out of the Blue

I forgot to mention yesterday was Columbus Day, it's one of those occasions that's easy to overlook, as I don't know anyone who gets the day off or anything. On the other hand, the news was pretty slow, so maybe it is a big holiday in the games business or something.

You forgot to mention the outcome of last night's game. How'd that go?

Did that slip my mind? Go fig.

Yeah, that was pretty bad... This was an obvious trap game to start with, but also considering how the G-men tend to do poorly on MNF, it was a double trap.

Oh well, it could have a net positive effect of being a reminder that people started talking about the team as one of the best in football, not because of some divine proclamation, but because they have gotten into the habit of preparing well, and playing physical, relatively mistake-free football. I'm betting if the Patriots had lost one regular-season game where they suffered a let-down last year, they probably would have won the Super Bowl.

Of course the Giants have had an easy schedule up until now, and the Browns are a far better team than their record would indicate, so I don't mean to make it sound like the upset of the century. The Browns played a great game (if you ignore the disgraceful number of illegal procedure penalties).

...sorry, couldn't reisist. The years of reading B's N has revealed that your fan'smenship for the Giants is akin to my love of the Browns.

edit: three days later, noticed the embarassingly wrong use of the word "you're" for "your". Me fail english? That's un-possible!

Get all your students passing what for some is extremely difficult exams, and if you don't, find your funding cut by a crazy percentage.

3. Doubling Vitamin D Oct 14, 2008, 08:44 Dan =0)

Coulda used some of that myself back in the day. Not only do we have rather dark falls/winters in this area (NE US), but from what I've read, as children born prematurely (such as myself) lose vitamin D through, er, urine... this despite having consumed gallons of milk throughout most of my life.

I'm trying to be less of a vampire, though, and getting out in the sun for 10-15 minutes or so daily.

Dan =0)

P.S. The "secret text" button is really quite secret... I'm still used to typing the tags. *Clicks on "More" link* Holy crap that's a lot of smilies... Speechless

The result of government failure is usually the call for more government action.

Or, another way of putting it is to say "Under ‘No Child’ Law, lax teaching won't improve scores enough anymore"
