RF Online Closing

The RF Online Website has bad news for players of the North American and European edition of RF Online, CCR's Korean MMORPG. Codemasters says their efforts at negotiating an extension of their license for the game have been unsuccessful, and the game's last full day of service will be November 9, and they will be taking the North American and European servers offline on the morning (UK time) of November 10. Thanks Chris.

@RaptoR

You could read my review here

In summary... I'll admit its no WOW but for a freebie MMO (provided you avoid the premium Item Mall) its fun.

kxmode, you got me interested in this Bloodymare game.

How is it similar to warcraft? Less of a Lineage2 style grind? Screenshots look good

I thought RF Online was okay, but it lacked polish and focus. I had no idea what the point of the game was when I played it.

The free private servers were infinitely more fun than live.

Certainly was not that great a game. I played it for a bit, as a f2p it was not competitive with other games in that genre.

As to Bloodymare, not a bad game, much better than RF Online, but Bloodymare has too many restrictions on the free players, making it nie impossible to play for free.

Another Korean pretty as hell grind fest MMO bites the dust. Why can't people make MMO's that look that good but don't suck so bad when it comes to gameplay?

1. In Asia, Internet Cafes are very common. Most of them have gaming machines filled with pay-to-play games liked RF Online. The gameplay in most is designed to support this business model.

2. Most Korean gamers actually love to grind. This goes back to the pay-to-play business model of logging in and killing a bunch of mobs for an hour then logging out.

Basically the only way an Asian MMO would be popular is if it mimicked WOW. However there's one Asian MMO that has done this pretty well... the M-rated Requiem: Bloodymare.

Ditto, on the beta, finding it dull, and graphics.

Honestly was surprised this was canned sooner.

I thought RF Online was pretty ugly - all the characters seemed too tall and thin. The color scheme would have suited an Xbox and the font choice was, as in most Korean MMOs, really horrible.

But hey the gameplay was worse so who cares

If WoW looked like Rf Online I for one would actually play it.
