Multiple Spore Accounts Issue?

A thread on EA's UK Spore Support Forum explores an issue with account creation in EA's just-released life simulation. Users are having difficulty creating more than one account for Spore, even though the manual states: "you may have multiple Spore accounts for each installation of the game." There are differing opinions about what EA is actually promising with that statement, with some suggesting that this may still require purchase of another copy of the game for a new CD key, with others feeling they are being deprived of a promised feature. According to one post one EA support rep said they were escalating this question to their supervisor, suggesting even EA support is not clear on how this should work. Thanks Stemot.

While I don't know the answer either, one thing I am certain of when dealing with EA; it will be resolved in whatever manner is least favorable to the customer.

I cannot even get one account working, thanks to the Invalid CD key problem and EA have no answer. Ended up, I took the game back and got a refund, as they have sold out of all stock.

Wow, I found this Spore video from 2005. The game actually had depth back then. The shape, size, placement, etc, of your parts actually mattered.

Actually, all reviews agree that the game is pretty much a collection of shallow minigames, that even the most developed phase (space) has its share of issues, and that the game doesn't live to the hype. They acknowledge those things at the same time they praise the idea itself, the content sharing concept, and the technical implementation - which are ultimately the aspects that are getting such high notes on reviews.

In short, it's Black & White all over again. Great concept, great technology, but not a good game.

@Bone43

I don't think so because it seems like there's a awful lot of negative visitors here on Blue's.

If you branch out and do some research you'll discover lots of feedback...

I wish he would post a podcast with his review of the game. More than anyone I trust Gaming Steve.

It's not even related to the DRM. If you want to use the online components of a game, you need an account.

But I won't stop some of the idiots here from rambling like it's SecuROM or whatever.

I don't think it's the DRM(for a change), just typical EA stupidity. People should have the right to multiple accounts as one household might have more than one member, they shouldn't all have to buy separate copies when it's the same damned computer.
