I'm bored as hell of spore after playing through it for two hours. Face it, the game sucks. The editors in the game are quite neat and the engine is quite possibly very malleable enough to create something completely unique and fun to play... I hope the mod scene takes off on it because this game is shite and a waste of money.

I don't know what so stunning about the visuals but personely I think they suck big ass. Spage stages and the Tribal stage offer some really crappy graphics. Just look at the textures when you zoom in on your tribe.it's awefull.

It occurred to me whilst playing through the Cell level again earlier that aside from the stunning visuals, Spore is just a series of minigames. If it wasn't for that 3D, PopCap could have made this. The end of the game, IE space stage, is where the minigames coalesce. It's still nothing comparable to any "real" game. Spore is a glorified Popcap game. |

wonder what kind of ad money EA shelled out to get all these high score reviews from gaming websites..
i guess they really are seeing this as "Sims: next generation"
somehow i doubt its gonna hit that mark, or even come close |

I'm kind of let down. No, not kind of. I'm really fucking let down. I was called about the pre-order and after reading the comments and reviews this sounds like what happened to me with the Sims.
I bought into the hype played it for several hours but the bottom line was that even the cool possibilities couldn't save the boring ass game-play.
I ended up installing a money cheat and building or designing huge houses... forget the micro managing the little people. Now that I think about it Black & White was the same thing. After hearing those little ungrateful villagers crying for more more more...
So now I doubt I'll be picking up my copy tomorrow. And with the WAR Preview Weekend event being more hassle than anything else... well, I need to kill something in cyberspace or I won't sleep well tonight.

They also used UE3 in Medal of Honor: Airborne and Army of Two, didn't they?

Maybe they'll shape it into a game which has more than four hours of gameplay before it gets repetitive?

Tiberium is on UE3. It seems to have disappeared though. And EA likes to reuse engines. See the Need for Speeds or EALA's RTS games for examples.

So basically, EA have yet another engine under the hood that they'll use in 2-3 games before dumping it for the latest Unreal tech, because that sells games better!
