Dead Space Banned in Germany, China, Japan

Destructoid reports learning from Dead Space community manager Andrew Green that the science-fiction horror game has been banned in Germany, China, and Japan due to its gruesome content. It's not clear if EA plans to submit censored versions of the game for these territories. Follow-up: EA says the report that Dead Space is banned in German is not accurate (story).

Maybe it doesn't have enough tentacle rape for the Japanese?

The others, I get. But Japan? Really? Really, really? Methinks there's some ulterior motive there.

Huge fan of survival-horror and sci-fi horror movies like Alien and The Thing; very much looking forward to trying this game. I love how they've implemented the HUD.

Yeah Japan doesn't make any sense whatsoever. The home of tentacle rape anime snuff porn protests violent videogame. Wow just wow.

People in China will just pirate it like they do everything else.

Germany, they're really messed up with their strict censorship laws.

Japan? lol wtf?

The home of Hentai porn games and bizarre horror movies bans Dead Space?

I'd like to know the reason why. Planning on renting the game at some point. Doubt I'd buy it.

I never thought I'd be pumped for an EA game again but this game looks pretty damned promising. I read this article then went and checked out some info about it, can't wait now.

EA Germany issued a statement saying that the article is nothing but a rumor, the USK has yet to give the game a rating.

I don't care since I have a good import store. The more important question is if the game will be any good...
