Anyone without "Giants: Citizen Kabuto" needs to rectify the matter asap.

Does the GOG version let you hack the game to uncensor Delphi's bewbz..?

If you like Giants, you should also pick up MDK 1 & 2, as their gameplay is very similar but better. Same sense of humor too.

Freespace 2 is an awesome game. I thought it was abandonware as I've even installed it on a Mac.

I think it holds up well on it's own especially with the enhanced graphics mods. It's mission based and arcadish but has a fun story and more depth that we expect these days.

If you like that, I'd also recomment Nexus: The Jupiter Incident.

The way I see it, if GOG is successful, it can only grow, and over time more and more of the games we loved will be licensed to them to sell. If GOG dies, this can't happen.

Exactly.

I hope that they surprise the hell out of me with their initial offerings, but I'm also looking to the future and thinking about the sort of catalogue they might have in time, if gamers support them now, so I know I'm going to do some shopping there regardless.

I would suggest that everyone do likewise, if you also feel strongly that a site selling games unencumbered by DRM of any kind is a hugely important step forward. Let's not let this fail.

The credit card is ready to go, believe me.

I see a bunch of games on top picture but is that really all?! I was looking forward to Tie Fighter (best game ever!!!!) and the X-com series, the original mind you. Any word if thoose games will be there?
Based on their stated aims, I can pretty much guarantee that GOG would love to offer those games, but they can only sell what they have the rights to sell.

Frankly I'd be (very pleasantly) surprised if either of those titles were available through GOG, at least on launch.

But here's the thing... The way I see it, if GOG is successful, it can only grow, and over time more and more of the games we loved will be licensed to them to sell. If GOG dies, this can't happen.

Awww, I was hoping that no one would suggest that one. I played Freespace and I found the change from cramped corridors to a wide open space to completely kill everything that made the Descent series so great. I liked the fact that Descent was desolate, disorienting and indoors. It was a tense environment. Freespace lost all of that for me.
Freespace 2 dropped "Descent" from the title, so it's best to think of it as completely separate from Descent (as should be done with the first Freespace as well). Both games are supposed to be space sims, so the Descent connection was misleading.

If you look at Freespace 2 with an open mind, I think you'll find an excellent game there, unless you hate space sims. As a fan of the X-Wing and Wing Commander games, I found Freespace 2 to be another excellent game in the same vein.

In my opinion, 2 was a lot better than the first one. If you can find the demo for 2, I'd check it out.

That being said, yes, it was not designed to be a sequel to the Descent series. I think for Freespace 2 they might have even dropped the word "Descent" from the title.

So, which Interplay game to get? I'm thinking MDK 2 or Die By The Sword.

I'm thinking you need to get Freespace 2.

According to the site, "Everyone who signs up at www.gog.com before Sunday September 7 at midnight (EDT), during the next week will receive an access key." It sounds like everyone who signs up gets in, just not necessarily on Monday. Those of us who signed up late may have to wait until later in the week.

I didn't realize they were doing a beta, but thanks to seeing this news thread I signed up.

Glad to see this is just on the horizon. When it was announced not long ago I thought it a great service that many will use. I've not the time these days to get into the beta but I hope it includes many of the classics that I constantly get nostalgic about.

Thats what I am hoping, but haven't heard much until this. Thought maybe another e-mail would go out...who knows. I am excited to check it out though.
