I got a call from Verizon last night… they're telling me that I am weeks away from being eligible for that FIOS service of theirs, which is apparently pretty snappy, though I have no complaints at all about my stupid-fast cable modem. I know that infrastructure upgrades would be needed to bring FIOS to my area, but now that I think of it, there are certainly enough of their trucks around all the time, so we'll just have to see.
