Call of Duty 6 in 2009

Kotaku reports plans for another Call of Duty game in 2009 beyond Treyarch's upcoming Call of Duty: World At War, which is due later this year. This is based on a revelation during a conference call following Activision Blizzard's latest financial report where CEO Bobby Kotick said the sixth CoD game would be released in 2009 because they will "leapfrog" studios, which suggests that CoD4 developer Infinity Ward will be handling this title. Kotaku mentions a rumor that IW is working on a science-fiction shooter, and speculate whether CoD 6 will be fought with ray guns, though it was also recently reported the developer is cultivating an entirely new intellectual property (story).

The original Dark Force was the only one to really get the 'feel' of the blaster rifles right.

I thought the blasters felt fine in Jedi Outcast and Academy.

I think Outcast and Academy had a LOT going for them.

Light Saber fights were the best out of all of the Lucas Art games. And compared to regular sword-fighting games it definitely ranks up there as well. As for the FPS shooter portion, from what I recall it did a good job. Then again once I got the saber I didn't use the guns often.

Further off topic, I am severely disappointed at Soul Calibur's depiction of light saber matches. Ignoring the fact that it is 100 flavors of stupid for Vader/Yoda/Apprentice to appear, it's lame on many levels.

While The Apprentice's stance looks cool and has decent powers, light saber matches feel SO bland. The only time it even sounds like a match is when there's a successful block. Otherwise it's like swinging cardboard tubes around, including the sound it makes when it hits an opponent. Personally I'd rather play as a character WITH a cardboard tube (and I'm not even talking about the Penny Arcade Samurai).
