Bungie: "Three Distinct Projects Underway"

The Inside Bungie Blog (thanks Edge Online) outlines the developer's plans to attend the Penny Arcade Expo 2008 at the end of next month, encouraging fans to come by and check out some new Halo 3 multiplayer content. They also say that in spite of the failure to launch their big announcement suffered at E3 (story), they will not be making any big announcements at the show, though they do tease the fact that they are currently working on "three distinct projects…some familiar, some not. Some on a closer horizon, some quite far off." Word is:

For the record, we have no plans to make any big announcements or huge reveals at PAX this year. While we will have some Halo 3 multiplayer stuff for you to check out, this is not going to be the "big announcement" many of our fans are clamoring for. Rest assured that when the time is right, we will be making announcements and talking about the stuff we're currently working on. At the moment we do have three distinct projects underway within Bungie - some familiar, some not. Some on a closer horizon, some quite far off.

There is a "Penny Arcade Expo"?

What rock have you been living under? They're holding the -5th- annual PAX this year.

...THIS NEWS ITEM BE TAKEN DOWN IMMEDIATELY.

We have an embarrassment of riches of news stories today and this entry can be saved for later. Perhaps we can post this at a later date when we can devote an entire day to it.
When was Bungie last relevant?
:o,
Ray

Bungie is still backpedaling with PR like this after the recent E3 fumble.

They must have hired Daunte Culpepper recently....

Halo MMORPG, Halo RTS and Oni 2 if I were to take a vague guess. Only one of these would make me dance with joy!

Well considering Bungie said they wanted their independence from MS because they were tired of working on Halo games...I'm guessing that maybe 1 of the projects is Halo based, but not all 3.

"Hello everybody! This is Bungie just signing in to say that we're working on projects that we can't talk about so please don't ask. We're not announcing anything this week. Probably not going to announce anything next week either. The end of August is not looking too good for announcements either."

What's with all these announcements of non-announcements?
