Maybe Nintendo will announce a <GASP>, new original IP? Even hearing that another Zelda, Pikmin, or Kid Icarus is in the works doesn't get me too excited anymore because there's a pretty good chance that they won't have evolved much from past iterations. Nintendo's hardware has reinvented itself but it's 1st-party games(Wii-wise) haven't, Mario Galaxy being one of the exceptions. Even then concessions were made in other areas in that it was stupidly easy, for the most part, compared to past games.
Nintendo seems to be playing it safe after taking that initial risk with the Wii, now that it has a proven track record. Really hoping they aim high with what's on the horizon, but not counting on it.

| Same here. Both the wife and I have not used the system since we got a PS3. After the initial thrill, I find the games just boring. |

I echo everyone else's comments. I bought my Wii, and after the novelty of Wii Sports and Raving Rabbits went away, I pretty much never touch the thing.
I've looked recently for some new games, but really there is a lot of low-budget crap out there for the Wii. Very few triple-A titles.

Was fun for about two hours I could have told you that. I think a very, very large chunk of us Wii owners could have.
This was the system I wanted most. Up until this generation I had always put significantly more time into the Nintendo consoles than any other, although with the GC it was mostly into Nintendo games. Nintendo just did multiplayer better.
Motion control, when announced, made me nervous. The 360, when it came out, seemed like a perfect console (ok, with some RROD issues.)
The Wii? Meh. We got ours the first February it was out. By March we used it only to play GC games, occasionally showing Wii Sports off to people. One kid played Zelda, but to me it was too much of the same - I never finished Wind Waker and this was the same damn game with different graphics, so why bother?
In 18 months of owning that system I think we played two weeks of Wii Sports, one week of Wario Ware and Wii Play combined, one week of Zelda, one week of Mario Strikers (probably 8 matches total), three weeks of Mario Galaxy, and had just started the new Smash Brothers when I moved out.
Honestly? System is boring as hell. If you added up the combined time the three of us played Oblivion on the 360 it easily beats the combined time we played the Wii total. |

Yeah, Wii caught up console wise but will it ever catch up to game sales?
Exactly. The article even eludes to many people owning a Wii and only having one game...the game that came with it.
I think the Wii is simply nothing more than a "novelty" item that many people just "had" to have, but it loses it's luster very quickly. I think it was a good short term approach to gain interest, but doesn't have much long term potential.

Well I'm gonna go with the "wait and see" approach, but I like the way the RB2 drumset is looking better than the GHWT and I'd like to get 1 RB2 guitar and 1 GHWT guitar since I prefer the RB style for guitar parts and the GH style for the bass parts. Also, I wanna get these on the PS3 so we'll have to see how this all pans out.

Wii surprasses XBox 360... |

The Wii is the first console system I've bought since the original Nintendo.
Was fun for about two hours, then quickly grew stale once I realized it literally had two, possible three games worth playing at most. *with literally two on the horizon that look interesting coming out in the next year and a half*
I regret it, will probably just toss it on Ebay.
