Link? I don't see it on there - but if it isn't the W model, don't want it.

From my understanding of the Wii and Nintendo's online services I would have thought they'd finally ditch the stupid friends code crap and allowed people to have user names like Live and PSN. Voice Chat for the Wii would not (personally) be on my lists of things to want.

As for sword fighting, it was a comment made after they showed Wii Sports Resort. If they wanted to sell me a Wii all they need to do is make a game where you can do light saber combat with a wii-mote.

And I have to give credit to Sony, they replaced that arrogant asshole they use to have with a more down to earth guy.
And the Little Big Planet part was a fairly nice touch.

As Morgan on G4 said 'Where is my lightsaber game?'.

There's a swordfighting game in the Wii Sports sequel.

Also how exactly is voice chat going after another company's ideas? It's damn overdue, every other console has had it since the original XBox and PS2.

thx - found a great price on a Garmin Nuve 260w. Going to test drive it before I give it as a gift. The street name turn thingie doesn't matter to me, but it is going to the parents as a gift, so I figured it was better for them to hear the street, not just "turn left in 500 feet", now they will hear "turn left on Jabroni street in 500 feet".

(I think my style is more the 760 :))

Meh, Sony didn't have much to show either. Home STILL isn't done? I guess they have a few more "core" games than the other two platforms and I expect the PS3 to lead this year, but I hope somebody announces something huge/exciting/amazing in the next day or so.

I've used the GPS system that came with my Sprint Mogul 8600, think it's called Nav-Tec. Wasn't as handy as a dash unit, but was pretty good.

Bats,
I've got the Garmin Nuvi and i'm pretty impressed with it so far. It's right-on accurate for keeping track of where you are. The recent 2008 map update seems to have some big updates as well as the option to check locations like dining, theaters, etc is really nice. There's a couple of "hack" sites that'll let you d/l stuff like vehicle replacement (i've got a motorcycle now, but i could drive a piece of pizza if i wanted). It's small enough to fit in the car and on my bike. The only thing i'm not pleased about is the memory. It doesn't have much in the way of internal memory, so if you want to download anything, you have to delete files like foreign language text and audio. It does have a slot for a SD card, but i've really had problems getting the device to recognize the card and use the data i've put on it. When i plug it into the computer, it just sees the device as a storage system and not the combined gps/sd card combo. but this is probably just something stupid i'm doing and it's not an actual issue. Garmin finally updated their site so that it's got all the necessary updates and extras.

i use it mostly on the bike and while the speaking is loud enough for the car, it's impossible to hear over the pipes on the bike.

Check out the nuvi:

The 350 has decent ratings for around $200 or the 660 for $330 on amazon.

Anyone have a good to great GPS unit they want to share their feelings on?

My car came with it installed, GM Factory GPS. I don't know the model, though I'm happy with it. It may seem a little primitive but the screen is nice, it has voice-directions, and via XM has traffic.

A friend of mine swears by his Garmin Nuve. I will admit the interface was nice though I never really saw it in action.

Another friend says that the Pioneer Stereo/GPS units are nice. If I went that route I'd want a 2-Din setup as I hate electronic motors moving the screen in and out. Sure it seems cool but I'm sure it's a maintenace-in-waiting.

My only suggestions are to at least get touchscreen if Voice-Activation Garmins/TomToms are out of your pay grade. And if get an integrated unit (like a Pioneer stereo) then make you or a friend can bypass it so you don't need the parking brake down to use it. With mine I need to be going under 5mph and no brake and it lets me enter "Home" not matter what the speed, so it isn't too bad. But it won't let me select anything else (even my saved locations) if I'm going over 5.

Oh, and don't be a tool and get into an accident because of it

Hard to make a good decision on this stuff - so much to choose from - so many problems, maps, updates, etc etc etc. Don't really have a budget, but I would like to stay under 400.

But always interested in the different tiers of services and features. ie: A best in class for each level of 100 dollars?

Well it seems like Nintendo and Microsoft are going after each others ideas.
Avatars for 360, Voice chat for Wii, etc.
Granted I missed most of Nintendo's press event, there was nothing that interested me. As Morgan on G4 said 'Where is my lightsaber game?'.

What are people thinking?

For me, it's kind of the same thing - the average level of quality has improved, but the really amazing games are fewer and farther between.

As of right now, there are a few titles I'm interested in, but nothing profound or terrribly exciting, especially something that hasn't previously been announced.

The 360 is really focusing on Live and resting on GoW2 (which doesn't seem to be addressing any of its faults.)

I'm watching the Nintendo conference right now, but other than coming up with a billion new add-ons, a lot if it is all the games we've already played, but with the new (and sometimes much harder) input method. And apparently every Wii is supposed to have a board now and we need to buy an additional adapter to make the Wii remote responsive? Everything seems to be based around that remote and I haven't seen anything really new yet.

I'm somewhat curious to see what Sony has to offer. By just offering a few new or exciting things, I'm feeling they could steal E3 for me (and give me justificaton to finally purchase the system.) Then again, they may just continue on as normal.

Even looking at some of the titles I am interesting in, a lot of them are planned to be multi-system releases, decreasing any strength factor for any one specific, individual system.

Has anybody heard of something called a "PC?"

A little bored,
