Free Return to EQ & EQII

The Living Legacy section on the EverQuest/ EverQuest II Website outlines programs where inactive accounts are being reinstated for both games to enable former subscribers to play once again (thanks Laffman). Word is: "Inactive EverQuest subscribers and trial accounts can play Secrets of Faydwer at no cost until July 25, 2008" and "Free Rise of Kunark gameplay for inactive EQII subscribers and trial accounts at no cost until July 31, 2008." Each offer includes a free bundle of in-game items upon log-in.

Fuck! Didn't think of that. That must be where all those failed login attempts come from then, password cracker or something.

Oh well, will still be a nice trip down memory lane for a while anyway

Sounds like your account got hacked.

EQ 1, it's strange because my payment history is blank too. The account I'm using is definitely my earliest station account and funnily enough it's the only account of mine that let me straight in - no "You do not have a subscription" dialogue window popping up. Also after logging in and updating I got a dialogue popping up telling me I had 442838 failed login attempts since I last logged in. So I guess they confirm I used to use it when I played Everquest originally?

The account I made later in 2003 (for the SWG beta) shows payment history all right but I had to activate the 14 day trial to play EQ on that one.

Odd, the Update Screen has (should? If yours is missing) a list of all your characters on all servers, even allowing you to do an auto load. Is this EQ or EQ2? Did you possibly delete them? Afaik they never delete toons.

A little confused here I tried to log on and it didn't work, support isn't open yet. Do we need to do anything special, besides just try to log on? It's not really clear anything special is required, afaik and see on the page.

Thanks.

Btw, I am in good standing, as I just stopped playing, in case this was a concern.

Ouch, that's not much time to play for sure.

It just seemed like such a good deal getting all that amount of content for free, sort of makes me wish I hadn't bought it when it originally was released.

Acleacius: 2 weeks goes fast. Here's the thing... I only play 0-2 hours of PC/Windows games (don't own consoles and haven't had one since Atari 2600) per week due to my busy real life. I only played 15 minutes last week and none for a whole month before it! See the problem? I'd love to have a free game trial that ends in July 2008.

Ant isn't a 14 day the longest trial available from any mmog? The Trial is the same deal right or maybe I am reading it wrong? It says come back or join.

Still getting the full game and all the expansions and 14 days isn't bad and as Umbragen said even gives AoC more time to clean up the game, while you play for free on EQ2.

8. Sure AoC is big now... Jun 3, 2008, 02:00 Umbragen

But in two months when this freebie expires, Funcom may have the game close to release-ready! Everything I saw in beta and have heard coming out of release, says AoC aint ready for prime-time. But as long as the fanbois are happy - I know Funcom wont go broke before they have a chance to finish what they started. By Fall, the client will likely be cheaper too.

Aww. I never played EQ2 and always wanted to try it but 14 days is too short. I have played SWG, WoW, Vanguard, EQ1, etc. I noticed this EQ2 freebies is for only membes from the past.

Hehe, well I guess WoW is doing pretty good too.

Still doesn't take away that fact this is the free game and almost 2 full months free. All this on the biggest actual game content mmog and possibly largest lore. This translates into lots of gameplay for free and there is plenty of time to play both, plus it saves you the equivalent of $80 it would cost on AoC.

A good deal is a good deal.

Read between the lines;

'We know AOC is huge right now and folks are having a blast. But come back.. we really miss your $15 a month!'

Yea I thought so too. Got my email, going to reactivate and get the free stuff and check out some areas I haven't seen before.

Can't say I'll get back into the game, but 8 weeks for free...I'll at least give it a look.

Free Rise of Kunark All-In-One Pack
Access the latest content; keep a complimentary digital copy of this compilation version of the game when you convert to a monthly subscription plan for EQII.

Pretty nice deal they are giving here, on top of the free activations for a month.

Edit: I read till June originally, I am amazed they are giving most of the summer for free.
