The actor did BOTH the motion capture and voice for his charcater and he did an excellent job in both areas. Easily worth 100k in this major release game. The issue isnt the 100k if you read the NY Times article about him; it is the fact the SAG doesnt allow contracts to pay royalties per profits in game titles.

If you're disgusted by this guy getting paid more for so little work you don't want to know anything about the guys that are getting the money instead.

You'll probably want to kill yourself if you looked at their income/work ratio.

You missed my point. It's not what he's getting paid but that he seems to expect my sympathy.

I work as an accountant and many clients make way more than that, a few of whom don't do much to get it either. But when they set their sights on more money, instead of moaning about how unfair it all is they go out and DO something about it. It's one of the things I particularly enjoy about my job.

Why doesn't that fucker try some "real" acting instead of moaning about being under-paid LOL!

Shit give me some lines, a mike and a recording studio, and Ill do a kickass voice-over no sweat!

Fuck back in the day dev's used to do all their voice overs themselves.

heheheh so his agent gets him a job of which he would NOT have gotten on his own....then he cries fowl because he signed a contract that he didn't read....he even said himself he was a nobody until he landed that job.

He got paid 100k for very little work. I VERY HIGHLY DOUBT that he worked 40+ hours a week for that amount of time.

There is more to the story than we are being told, and he is just being a little bitch. Zero respect. Enjoy your fame in the game and STFU.

If he was doing nothing else that whole time - he is a lazy fuck.

I'm tired of people who get paid far more than me who do none of the above more than me and yet still whine about how they're surely being ripped off. Worse, they expect me to care.

So who should get that money?

Honestly I'd rather this guy got more money and the big boys got less but that's just me. The residuals are going somewhere, and it's not to this guy.

What is it about people earning substantially more than the mean average? $6,667 per month is damn good pay for someone who does none of the following:
- work extremely hard;
- offer some special skill or quality;
- Take a significant risk (of any kind).

I'm tired of people who get paid far more than me who do none of the above more than me and yet still whine about how they're surely being ripped off. Worse, they expect me to care.

Wow, I am NOT interested in GH world tour if it makes me look like the jackasses in this trailer. I think that making themselves exactly like Rock Band is going to lead to them getting savaged by Harmonix, who knows not to treat its costumers like over excited corgies. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that the hold outs who bought GH3 over Rock Band bought it because it was cheaper and guitar centric. Now Neversoft wants to go toe to toe with the best? Stupid.

I was totally disappointed in GH3, so I see no reason to go back, esp if Neversoft is still behind the wheel...

My thoughts are that if the voice acting was what made the game, then he might have a case. The game would have kicked ass even with bad voice actors (mute and put on subtitles) so $100,000 aint that bad. I know quite a few people that would need to work 2 - 3 years to make that coin at 40+ hours a week so I really can't feel sorry for the guy for just talking.

because we all want some voice actor that plays the protagonist to COST millions of dollars just like lead actors in Hollywood! And just how many Devs on GTA4 will get residuals? And the comparative talents of VAs verus those DEVs?

Just another case of Hollywood corrupting the entertainment industry with skewed values.

The woman who did the voice for Cortana for $500 for Halo 1 and about $1000 for Halo 2.

Voice acting typically pays ~$500 per day. This Niko guy's pay works out to $222 per day for the next 15 months, as opposed to only $500 per day for a week.

Does anyone know what the all-star cast of San Andreas was paid? Or Vice City for that matter?

Oh, and the lead actors for the Simpsons make $360,000 per episode.

I agree. 100k for the voice of Niko Bellic is already a really handsome sum. I'm amazed he got so much. I was thinking more like.. 10k at the most!

Damn, maybe I should become a voice actor

They should be happy with what they made and stop being greedy, considering how trivial their contributions were in the grand scheme of things.

Relatively speaking, they're just succeeding in the industry. If you're going to define being greedy as simply wanting more money, hell, you may want to look at the games industry from the point of view that it exists to make profit for someone, somewhere.

It is a business proposition to set up a game development company and put out games, afterall.

$100,000 is more than what most devs, who work 40+ hour weeks, make. How many hours did these voice actors work to get $100,000?

They should be happy with what they made and stop being greedy, considering how trivial their contributions were in the grand scheme of things.

Yet if somehow the game wasn't selling as well as it is and turned out to be not all that great, he wouldn't be saying any of this.

Yes, there is some greed going on here. Greed is tearing this world apart and it's just getting worse.

If this were me you wouldn't see me complaining (of course I'm not greedy, I find value in more important things than money).

What a greedy SOB...

Wanting to get paid more for something popular is not greedy, it is getting what you deserve. The article's point is more of the guild failing him, rather than Rockstar screwing him over. I don't think he says anything unreasonable.
