Please god let their be another Diablo. With lots of blood and guts and exploding corpses. Nothing better than going into a crowd of baddies and using Zeal and hitting guys like a godly crack head.

Remember the dozens upon dozens of posts I made a few years back saying "Who cares about Diablo 3? All the minds that made it left, so all you're getting is the name. "The real Diablo 3 is Hellgate!"
Yeah, then those E3 videos came out and I shut up. Then the game came out.
Err... looking forward to hearing about D3 now Cough *hyprocrite* cough

Vivendi will want that money. In some way the Diablo franchise will be revived, at some time, for the simple reason of finances. LOL. I guarantee you the day Vivendi takes Blizzard popular franchise and hands it over to another company is the day Blizzard dies as the company we know.

Dunno why Roper didn't carry on the Blizzard tradition of not releasing trash....*cough* greed *cough cough* lack of a brain *cough*. Asshole. Because when you're a new developer without Blizzard's huge safety-margins, you can either release or go bankrupt? Think before you call someone asshole.
Not that I'm disputing the fact that HG would've benefited from a few more months of development, or even the trashcan. Completely shitcanning a project after a year or two in development like you're suggesting with such brilliant lack of insight, though, is a luxury pretty much no developer except Blizzard has.
On another note, I hope there's no truth to that leak by that disgruntled former employee from the QA dept a year or two back.. He pretty much claimed he had seen D3, and that it was an MMO. Probably bullshit. HOPEFULLY bullshit.

All I said that the game will do fine. It will happen, whether it's tomorrow or three decades from now. Blizzard not doing another Diablo game is like saying Square will never make another Final Fantasy.

Diablo 3 will do just fine without Roper, his minions, and the people that left to make Guild Wars. This is precisely what I'm talking about. You guys discuss this as if it's going to happen without an official announcement from Blizzard. It's pure folly. Just wait until Blizzard says "Diablo 3 soon" then go crazy.

heh I felt the same way about Hellgate at one point years ago too.
The story goes that Diablo 3 was almost finished a few years ago, but Blizzard felt it sucked / lacked fun so they canned it completely and started over. Dunno why Roper didn't carry on the Blizzard tradition of not releasing trash....*cough* greed *cough cough* lack of a brain *cough*. Asshole.

As the old adage goes, if it ain't broke...
Diablo I/II worked - extremely well for what they were. I can't imagine Blizzard deviating from that in any way, shape, or form. Updated graphics, support for widescreens, and a new story would be all that would be different. As for whether they'd attempt a pay-to-play model now, who knows. I probably wouldn't subscribe, because I don't want to pay to play co-op with a few other random people who are most likely jerks.
If they keep the formula the same - Battle Net included - they'll have another smash hit on their hands. And I'm really not worried that it's the original team anymore. Blizzard has shown they have the chops to do it. Just look at the POS Roper and co. produced. I have faith in Blizzard.

I hope this is true. If it's not, then it is an evil thing to do. Though, most of the original Diablo team is no longer with blizzard - it could turn out to be just a WoW with diablo models. ----- http://www.sporenormous.com This comment was edited on May 21, 17:08. |

On the PC Gamer Podcast a couple weeks ago, one of the editors seemed like he was really hinting at something like this trip. I don't remember the episode or the specifics, but they said something about going down to Blizzard to see Starcraft II and Wrath of the Lich King, and hinted at a third game that they couldn't bring up.

Can these people just wait until Blizzard makes the official announcement? All this rumor-mill crap is a total waste of time. It's hope to the point of becoming blind faith. Then that faith is totally crushed if Blizzard doesn't announce Diablo 3 because well they never said anything in the first place...

It better be an Action-RPG like it always been, casual and solo friendly. The only "MMO" part I would like to see is simply an improved online experience like Auction House, Mail, item linking, being in the world with 1000+ person on it in real time, you know? I would buy that in a second...

Why would they make Diablo 3 an MMO? They already have World of Warcraft. If an MMO, then WOW2 or World of Starcraft. Right? Right?

You can bet there will be a shitload of people reinstalling D2 and logging on Bnet if D3 becomes official.
I, for one, already reinstalling D2.. WoW is long gone in my mind.. I reinstalled WoW recently after a 2 years break but it took me 2 weeks to remember the why(s) of why I took a very long break of it in the first place.
I can only hope.
MFing and grinding is fun in D2.. it isn't in WoW.
