I think what he meant to say is that since they (the developers) are console players now but SINCE they used to be hardcore PC guys, that they will try to implement as much of the PC elements into the console port.

However this is probably just marketing blown out his ass, i seriously doubt these guys would be "console" or "pc" guys, the fact of the matter is Fallout 3 is being made for the lowest common denominator since it is cross platform, in this case that is the console.

The problem is, the damage is already done. Whether the hardware problems have been addressed or not, the public perception is that the 360 was rushed to market and suffers because of it.

Yup when it was time to decide on a console I didnt even think twice, I was not going to touch a 360 with a ten foot pole.

EDIT and it not really a perception problem the 360 was rushed to market, now if the elite is reliable or not, who knows, after the 360 BS I wouldnt touch one.

Surprised noone has commented on Beth 'dumbing down' their games for consoles.

It might be because people automatically filter out his comments as delusional. The interface changes from Morrowind to Oblivion basically shows that he's lying. You don't need to comment on PR BS when it's too easy to prove that it is BS.

Thinking of unmodded Oblivion GUI still makes me cringe, and it's been two years since I played the game in unmodded form.

I still don't know a single person with a PS3.

And I know 3 who do own PS3s not including myself and the other posters on this site. So I guess it boils down to who you know. Considering over 12,000,000 units have been sold this shouldn't really be surprising.

But at the same time the PS3 DOES have hardware issues. While I was up north I got to play with my brother in laws on his mega home theater and I had some issues with the system. I had the system freeze up on me for no apparent reason, and also I was playing Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga, when the characters loaded into Cantina they were seriously screwed up.

Isolated incidents do not equal "hardware issues" with the PS3. The 360 is notorious for the RRoD. There is no parallel to that with the PS3. It is quality hardware from top to bottom. Do any of them break? I'm sure they do and I'm sure your experience was frustrating but it definitely is in the minority.

As for the Playstation network, I was trying to find Lego Star Wars games to join and it lists the ping to each game. I could never join a single game due to pings being 400+.
Granted you have to don't have to pay to play online with Xbox Live, but that 50 bucks a year is well worth it when you look at Sony's Free version. And I won't even get started on how much of a pain in the ass it is to navigate the PS3's menu system, or it's Online Marketplace.

I believe your online issues with the PS3 are, once again, either isolated or game, not system, related. I play COD4 multiplayer all the time with zero issues. Pings are consistently sub-100 and disconnects are rare. As for the market place, it WAS horrible but has since been overhauled and vastly improved. No complaints there.

as a gaming machine Blu-Ray is severly holding the machine back with mandatory installs for games and some movies.

On the contrary, Blu-ray has put the console into the hands of folks who might not have normally bought a console. I can count the number of mandatory games installs on one hand. Besides, that's a developer option (since all units have HDDs) and not a requirement. As for movies with mandatory installs, I've yet to encounter a single one and I own approximately 40 movies and have rented many others.

I still don't know a single person with a PS3. Plenty of Wii, 360, and Wii60 owners, though.

Still think the Wii will be remembered as a fad, not a gaming system, after all the casual users move on, having only played it a handful of times.

$279 bucks at Amazon for a 360 console isnt that much given the current value of the dollar. Then another $40 for the 2nd wireless controller. honestly at that price the 360 is a disposable item. One game costs 60 bucks -- that's where the annoying hper-price gouging occurs. XBOX live is cheap at 50 bucks a year for unlimited multiplayer. Basically its a "cheap to buy" console and not a big deal if it breaks.

I't impressive that they sold close to 4 million of those copies opening day. I'd love to see the midnight madness tallies from around the globe. That's a pretty signifigant event. A couple of million people around the globe lining up for a single game for one night.

Now granted there are some features on the PS3 that are very nice, hard drive upgrades, built in wireless network and bluetooth, but as a gaming machine Blu-Ray is severly holding the machine back with mandatory installs for games and some movies.

edit: $180 for a 120GB hard drive?!? That's insane! http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/05/why-a-hard-driv.html

Not as insane as the price diff for the PS3!!!!!

Find me all 4 models, how much they were at retail release, and where I can get them now. heh.

Even a refurb 60gb at ebgames is $500.00.
The only one worth having for the PS2 hardware engine.

Looking online for 60gb and 80gb models - now the argument easily stands on the price comparison....even adjusting for an additional HD for the 360!

You are neglecting the cost of Live which adds $50 to the price of the 360 EVERY YEAR. Plus, I think most people want/require a wireless connection which is an additional expense.

Realistically, the two consoles (with comparable setups) aren't that far apart in price. In the end, you will wind up spending WAY more on games over the lifetime of the console so the initial hardware cost is a fairly moot point IMHO.

I know backwards compatibility isn't 100% with the newer consoles but it is still pretty high (or did they remove it altogether?).

None on the 40gb - which is the only one widely available in stores, and i have to thank whoever told me last week that 40 is a no go - otherwise I would have been none to happy.

Hell, if I had one, I would feel DAMN compelled to play it jsut because of the price I paid! Even if I also had a 360!

And as a 360 owner, I have no need for a PS3 (the argument goes both ways).

I've got 4 friends who have both - all 4 of them play almost exclusively on the PS3 now. 3 of them because they've had hardware problems with the 360. I guess if you get lucky and your 360 doesn't run into problems, you're fine, but for the rest, the PS3 seems to be a better alternative.

Isn't there the same issues with the PS3? Multiple versions some with compat and some not?!

I know backwards compatibility isn't 100% with the newer consoles but it is still pretty high (or did they remove it altogether?). I have the original 60GB model with the hardware PS2 so it hasn't been an issue. Hooray for being an early adopter!

Well, how many do you want people to buy!?

Man you left yourself wide open there for a "multiple 360s dying" joke but I won't go there!

That being said, so long as Microsoft address the issues I mentioned in my previous post and they offer backwards compatibility with the 360, I'd probably wind up buying their next console.

Isn't there the same issues with the PS3? Multiple versions some with compat and some not?! I have a ps2 with a lot of games....if it dies, and I could have backwards, I would be happy.

But they still continue to crank out consoles and sell them

Not at the rate they used too. And PS3 sales have been outpacing 360 sales as of late.

Oh, I certainly don't NEED a 360 but was considering it only for some of the 360 exclusives. I'm sure there are plenty of 360 owners buying a PS3 just so they can play the next Metal Gear Solid. The point is, I'm willing to bet that people buying their first console are more likely to gravitate towards the PS3 at this point due to the perception of the 360 being burdened with RRoD issues as well as the other shortcomings I mentioned. Add to that the success of Blu-ray and it makes the PS3 that much more compelling.

That being said, so long as Microsoft addresses the issues I mentioned in my previous post and they offer backwards compatibility with the 360, I'd probably wind up buying their next console.

Do I think it is perfect? No, but IMHO I prefer the games on the 360.

And as a 360 owner, I have no need for a PS3 (the argument goes both ways). Once you have 1 of them, the other one isn't really needed, as the titles that are exclusive - don't appear all that awesome. For what I am doing, I am VERY happy with my 360. Would I like a PS3? Sure, for free (like the deal I was looking at through BB last week) - but I can't justify the $.
