Gold - Bus Driver

Meridian4 and SCS Software announce that your chance to live out your Ralph Kramden fantasies are near, as Bus Driver is gold, and will be available for digital distribution later this month:

Montreal, Quebec, Canada – May 5, 2008 – Meridian4 (http://www.meridian4.com) and SCS Software are pleased to announce that Bus Driver has gone gold and will be ready to ship to retail stores and be available for digital download in May.

“We have been working with SCS Software to change some minor things in the game for the North American market.” said Jeff Giasson, Production Director at Meridian4, “There was very little to be done to this surprisingly addictive driving sim.”

About Bus Driver
In Bus Driver, your job is to transport passengers around an attractive and realistic city. You must drive to a timetable on a planned route, while obeying traffic rules, and taking care not to upset or injure your passengers. This makes Bus Driver unlike any other driving game - the experience of driving a bus is very different from blazing through a racing circuit.

        • 12 buses to drive – detailed models inspired by real-world buses, including London’s double-decker bus, America’s school bus, Europe’s low floor buses and many more
        • 30 routes arranged into 5 tiers with increasing difficulty
        • Multiple duties, such as driving a school bus, transporting tourists, sight-seeing tours and even the transportation of prisoners
        • High replay value based on sophisticated system of traffic rules and game-play related bonuses.
        • Large city to drive in, with several districts of varying styles: modern, old-town, suburb, airport, harbor and more with day/night cycles and realistic weather conditions.
        • Living roads with intelligent traffic controlled by AI system
        • Non-violent, easy to pick up gameplay, suitable for all ages.

This would be interesting if it were tied into a version of GTA4 perhaps
You could actually do this in GTA2 (or maybe GTA, it's been a while). Well, without routes, but if you jacked a bus and stopped at various stops marked on the pavement, you'd make a few bucks picking up passengers and dropping them off.

BS the flight sim genre is dead.. lol. The flight GAME one might be but we have 2 top quality flight sims in the works, 1 more from a development group that are new to simming but seem to have a clue and 1 more from a shovelwear outfit that might have finally gotten their shit together.

Oh these are all COMBAT flight sims - bugger the civvy ones.

I'm stoked. I get to drive an American school bus?! Awright! Then it's followed by three months of Spaghetti-Os and daytime TV!

I have all the Bus Simulators I need in GTA 4. Charge head on into a racing group of players hit the ebrake and crank the wheel over so you block the road and watch the mayhem. Sooo swweeeettt.

I love GTA Race mode. SO. MUCH. FUN.

A janitor simulator? Lame!
Lame!? Space Quest was a kick ass game series. Don't all janitors go into space and save the world?

If you drop below 50 MPH, the bus will explode.

I played the demo. It was at least a zillion times more fun than Ship Simulator. The buses actually felt decent with the keyboard.

But it looks like crap and gets boring pretty quickly, as one might expect. As one little aspect of something like GTA IV, along the lines of the taxi missions, I could see this working.

I, for one, applaud them for trying something different, risky, and more fun than a lot of the crappy clone games that are out there.

But people complain all the time that all games are the same, what are they going to do when someone releases something different like this? I say damn this SCS Software, because if they hadn't released this game, we wouldn't have this problem of not knowing what to say in the first place.

I don't understand what all you people complain about. This game can't be more boring than WoW, and look how many play that game.

Sometimes it seems like us gamers have all had our minds replaced with vat-grown clones of michael bay's brain.

I've played this, and despite its lack of explosions or wanton violence, it's surprisingly fun. It's a driving game, insofar as you're driving something, but the game's real appeal comes from a set of challenges and strategies that are different from any other driving game I've played.

You've got to haul ass through busy streets in a hugemongous boat full of irritable people, balancing your need to meet an oft ridiculous timetable with careful driving to avoid penalties from traffic infractions, pissing off passengers, or property damage. I don't think it tracks speed limits, so you don't have to crawl, and I spent most of one route with a street light laid across the roof (I paid for it when I uprooted the thing, I wasn't going to waste more time trying to shake it off).

I, for one, applaud them for trying something different, risky, and more fun than a lot of the crappy clone games that are out there.
